Loading Characters

Forgive me if I'm being a bit dopey, but I'm a complete newbie to Daz and just as I was feeling just a little bit confident, and downloading from the store a new character (the lovely Frankie), my spirits are once again plummeting because I simply cannot get her to load. I've found her in my content library, but nothing I do moves her into my scene window. Should I be opening a Genesis figure and applying her to that? Should I be loading her as a stand alone figure? Should I be opening Genesis 2 and applying her to that? I thought I was beginning to get a grip of all this, but it seems I know nothing. Jeez, they say golf is a character builder, but it's got nothing on getting started in 3D!

I've no doubt there's a very simple resolution to my frustrations, and I will be eternally grateful to anyone who can advise me of it.

    by Frankie do you mean Frankie Von Stein because that is a character for V4 and requires you to have V4 and morphs++ in order to use it.

    Oops. I am wrong, take no notise of me, it is Genesis as well. Take notice of what Frank said

    You need to load Genesis first and then apply Frankie to it.

    Hi chohole - thanks for responding so quickly. Yep, I went for Frankie as my first character purchase because she's the exact look I'm after and because she is Genesis as well as V4 (I don't have V4). And since my post was sent in frustration I have discovered what I was doing wrong and I now have her in Daz and I'm having fun playing with her.

    So thank you again for stepping in to help, and while I have you there may I ask something else that I'm not sure about? As I say I don't have V4, so does that mean I can't buy any characters or clothing or hair that are based on V4, or if I do will they work with Genesis? V4 clearly has an enormous amount of props created for her, but I'm reluctant to purchase her, thinking it's surely better to go for Genesis characters and props, because it seems that's the future.

    Does that make sense? I'm not sure it does now I've typed it.

    Skin textures can be used directly as Genesis has a V4 uv map setting

    Clothing will autofit to Genesis, but with varying degrees of success I gather.

    Morphs will need GenX and the V4 shape for Genesis (both an extra purchase)
