dynamic/conforming hybrid model - can this be done?

Hey, does anyone know if it is possible to create a partially dynamic model, i.e. a curtain on a curtain pole?

The curtain cloth is meant to be held by hooks on rings that each have their own bones so they can move along the curtain pole individually. Even better if it was possible to set the curtain pole up as a conforming model, so that the window can "wear" it. So it would basically be a hybrid of a conforming and a dynamic model. I know I'm probably asking a bit much.

That being said it's probably wise to mention that I have no experience in creating dynamic clothing at all. I have created conforming clothing before tho.

Please could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

If you are using Studio, you can't create dynamic clothing at all. At least, not without a $10,000 seat license for OptiTex...

Haha! Ok thanks. Too bad. The people from Marvellous Designer were talking about creating a player for DS some time ago. Guess we'll just have to wait for that. Surely it'll be much cheaper. 10,000 bucks! Wow! That explains a lot.

I think this is what you're looking for:

Thanks, but I wasn't actually trying to find curtains, but create some myself. I have the window and the curtain pole already.

Well, in that case, you can use Poser's Cloth Room. Fugazi1968 has a series of video tutorials explaining how to create dynamic materials. For example: http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/index.php?ViewProduct=88760

Naturally, anything you create will only be usable within Poser.

Not entirely true. You can export the dynamically altered mesh into Daz Studio as a morph target, so you can effectively get the best of both worlds. I've used this method countless times for various projects, the most recent of which being my three bears work where I used Poser's cloth room to drape the blanket over the sleeping Goldilocks. The whole thing was exported as an OBJ, imported into Poser where the drape was formed, then exported back out to as an OBJ for use in Daz Studio as a morph.

Once you get accustomed to the workflow, it's pretty quick and easy to do.
