Alanna Hair O_o

Hi all!
I'm curious to see if anyone had done any renders with the Alanna Hair? It looks a million bucks in the Pro Bundle where Gia is wearing that scrap of cloth over her breasts but honestly, it looks AWFUL in the actual product promos. Rushed, perhaps?
Would really like to see a render or two of it, otherwise I'll bite the bullet, buy it and give it the UberHair treatment and see if that helps.
Cheers!

Here's a couple of renders using the default Alanna texture set. I think one of the issues is UV mapping and the texture choice. There's a lot of stretching going on, and it's even more apparent just how much when you look at the texture it's using. The problems on the UV map are numerous, as there are dozens of overlaps per surface area. I'm tempted to remap them to tidy it up a bit, as the modeling on the hair is still rather nice.
Meh, this was one of the hair I really was interested in after seeing the first picture of Gia with it... Unfortunately, I know nothing of remapping and such so it's just not worth the money for me I'm afraid, to bad.. was a really nice hairstyle in itself *sad*
I agree. It could definitely benefit from higher resolution textures and some better UV arrangements. The problem is that the texture it's using is about the size of a postage stamp in comparison to most other hairstyles, so the texture is stretched beyond its limits. If my remap goes well I'll post the new UV's along with some fresh textures on my ShareCG account.
That would be awesome, HeraoldofFire aka Super Friendly Anime Guy!!
I'll post a quick render of my "improvements" of it using UberHair.
This is what I'm currently up against. All of those rectangles are the UV map for the hair, previously layered atop each other for a tiny little texture. The trick now is to get them to scale and arrange them so that the resulting hair both retains the feel of the original, but has the detail it deserves. This should be fun. I should also point out at this juncture that I've never created a hair texture from scratch before. This will be interesting on multiple levels.
I'm glad you are working on this and getting enjoyment from the challenge, Herald. I am another who is disappointed in this hairstyle. The hair in back is nothing like the hair hanging in the front, which is a garbled mess, and the textures are really poor. That this is a product from someone I have considered a premier hair-maker is somewhat surprising and disappointing, as well.
