What free and open source video editors are out there?

I want to make some animations with Poser, DS, and my digital camera. I was wondering what video editing softwares are out there that are free. Not a free trial but free so I can edit the videos and put them on YouTube on the same day.
I do have Windows 7 pro 64 bit desktop. Does Windows come with any video editing software?

    Windows has movie maker. My version of Windows 7 has Movie Maker live. I haven't used it so I don't know how good it is.

    In the same vein, and rather than starting another topic, I'd ask what's the best "paid for" video editors? with a reasonable price tag? Which have multiple+ tracks for audio? and multiple tracks for video and compositing.

    I swear by and use Adobe Premiere.

    Roxio Creator Full is also a nice full featured Editor, it's designed for DVD creation but does great at just Video's as well. And is at a good price for the features offered.

    As you may recall, I enter short animations in the 48 Hour Film contest, some of which have some 3D elements you may recognize. The video editor is a major part of that kind of contest, because "every second counts". My preference is Magix' "Movie Edit Pro" because its affordable, it works, it gets good support from the company, and it includes a lot of high end effects similar to Adobe After Effects (I have it - very good and very expensive). That last item means you stay in one program rather than having to switch back and forth, a time killer.
