Applying IK Chains to bones?

Hello all.

I'm trying out IK chains in Carrara 8.5, and must be missing something obvious.

When I create a group of separate objects and parent them together, the IK Chain tool works as expected, and creates the IK Chain with the target helper. Beautiful.

But when I have bones attached to a single vertex object (with ball joint constraints in place on all of the bones), nothing happens when I select the bone where I want the IK chain to start, then click the IK Chain tool, and then click the bone where I want the IK chain to end.

What am I missing? Thanks!

Its working ok here on a similar test setup. Are you selecting the instance list objects or the scene window objects when using the 'Create IK chain' tool? Using the instance list to select for that tool doesn't work as far as I know. You can also setup the IK modifiers manually in the Modifiers tab.

    That was it.

When I tried it again, selecting the bones in the main window, it worked. Just not when selecting the same bones in the instances tab. Strange -- I thought that selecting items was functionally exactly the same in both places.

    Thanks much!
