Hopefully daz and the PAs have gotten it out of their systems and we can get some useful, well-made, clothing for v6 and maybe even genesis male, eh? I really don't think we need 1 more bikini...

Genesis can ware M4 clothes. With the iconic shapes bundle he can ware M3 clothes. I'm not buying in to G2, or is it 3 now, or is that next month?

We've begun to dive into something like self-parody territory here. I'm hoping it was just sort of a coincidence, that this overwhelming wave of products just happened to be first to hit, and that things will hopefully recede like a tide to normal levels of absurdity pretty quickly, but I do laugh out loud for each successive day that a new swimsuit or underwear item appears.

(i figured beach metaphors were the way to go)

I honestly could use some well made, less form fitting sci-fi garb for gen 2 characters, and there is always a lack for males.

I particularly need outfits that aren't doughy looking on the breasts.

I'd like Some pleats and seams and gathers and wrinkles. I also am done to death with corsets. I'd love some outfits with short sleeves, practical cuts, to mix and match so that I could layer it on.

Also some more sci-fi bodysuits like xurge does would be awesome.

In general, just about anything that isn't designed to look specifically sexy would be nice. =-)

For men, just about anything with some detail, that doesn't have the doughy feel would be awesome.

Also, a really nice cape which is easy to pose would be great.

I forgot, I bought the new running shoes too but I picked those up for Aiko3, not G2F.

Rather an old argument. PA's make what sells, skankware sells. Simple as that.

But that is the beauty of autofit. I have nice street and business clothes for M4 and V4 so...

aaaaaaaaand we still don't have proper Red Sonja "armour"... a couple of iconic items could go a long way, but only if they're done right.

I've seen a few gen 4 metal bikinis.

There are a few sword ladies gen 2 outfits, but they tend to be more plate... at least what I've seen.

it's too much hard work to properly rig the triangular mail loincloth - if it was that easy, I'd do it myself, but it isn't so I haven't... and there's simply no point buying anything loincloth that isn't independently rigged rater than following one leg or the other.

I love carrara's soft cloth :cheese:

Yes, which makes me ask why are they working so hard to make autofit work great? It's not like PA's have to make work around morphs or DAZ is selling them or something.

 Ya, couldn't type it with a straight face ;-)

On the subject of V6 and skimpware - made a game using her. Had to UV and make a bikini rather than use the original Uv because this webgl engine 's transparancy layers are funky and V6 came out jude. So new Uv and hard painted clothezls on her skin. Incedently the reptile in the game is RawArts TyRex figure. Game licennses reqd for this type of publishing.

...it still buggers my mind that a company which continues to preach about being "Family Friendly' keeps pushing this kind of stuff. Look at all the promotions that use "Sexy" Hot", and "Sensuous" as adjectives for their releases and sales.

In my book, the store page is often NSFW and I'm often embarrassed logging into it in a public place such as a hotspot.

What are they really selling here? 3D content or a means to satisfy one's fetishes?

    I'm bloody serious about this.

    I don't embarrass easily. :-)

I have an assortment of images I've pulled from various threads I keep on my laptop. So when people ask what I'm working with, I show them the DAZ new-release store page. And then tell them "Think of it as dirty old men playing with electronic pin-ups" and show some NVIATAS examples. "Or as serious artists working in an interesting medium" and show some examples from the Stonemason and Jack Tomalin appreciation pages and some of the entries from the Team Dystopia render competitions.

The group at Starbucks gets a kick out of the descriptions - and uniformly prefer the non-NVIATAS images.

As for myself, I'm tending more to apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic work, and there just aren't that many scenes that can be staged in a sleazy spaceport bar . . .

...so then ask me, why do I find more "appropriate" everyday clothing on freebie sites rather than here in the Daz store?

The store is NSFW for me now. miss out on sales unless I come home for lunch and have time to check.

In general, I do wish things would balance out more. I need more practical everyday clothing. I'd also like to see the G2male. I hope they release him soon.

    OK,

Why DO you find more appropriate everyday clothing on freebie sites rather than in the Daz (or Rendo or RDNA or any other) store?

Seriously, I'm not DEFENDING it, I'm making a statement of fact. Skimp wear is easier to make than serious clothes. No posing problems, no poke through, no morph problems, fewer poly's, easier texturing, etc.

...maybe because those creators have no other place to go with their work since this "family friendly" company (as well as the others) is thinking only with their bottom line.

Unfortunately as the old business adage goes, "sex sells".

Sadly though, it makes it difficult on those of us who don't care to "buy into" it (figuratively speaking) and don't have the expertise to model our own content.

I'd love to see the sales figure for the latest V6{or is it V7 now?} skankware and the '30's suit for M4. With autofit I have a selection of bikinis and skankware for V3 and V4. I bought a clothing bundle for V4 once because it was at a price I couldn't pass up, what I got were 5 almost identical club mini dresses. Yes the styles were a bit different but they were all too similar.

If DAZ looked at the sales figures for me most of my $ has been spent on sets, and skins, not clothes. And what clothes I have gotten were modern leisure ware or period clothes.

Now I read the forums a lot, I've read V6 was DAZ's most successful figure; which is quite debatable. I read the Studio 4 is used in schools and colleges and that is part of the reason for V6's success. So is it the schools that are buying all the skankware? Just whom is buying it when it is quite evident that most people posting on the forum want street or period clothes. Could it be that the people buying the skankware are too embarrassed to post on the forum? When I check out most poser/studio galleries I don't see much skankware, sure plenty of impractical armor. Where I see skankware is on the poser porn galleries, so is DAZ catering to the poser porn industry?

So if PA's make skankware because it sells, just whom is buying it?
But then could it be this stuff sells simply because that is all that is available?
Sort of like saying black model T's were the most popular color, when model T's only came in black.

Hey, all the skimp wear is saving me money. Each morning recently I have said "I won't be spending money today. Credit card will be lower than last month." I, too, wish for everyday clothes and find most on freebie sites.
