Pose in place
I've looked for an answer to this several times but am unable to find one: how is it that some commercial poses are applied to the figure in-situ and others take the figure back to "world-zero"?
I have never seen the point in the latter - why would anyone want to apply a pose and then go to the trouble of moving her back to the place she was? Is there any way to ensure that posed figures are not relocated?
Secondly, some poses reset the morphs back to standard V4 (I'm not sure about Genesis and I don't have Genesis 2). I spend hours dialling in a masterpiece only to have it blown away by a purchased pose. I guess this one is just a moan because I can't imagine there is a DS setting to stop morphs being zeroed by posing.

Yes you can keep the POSE in place. On a Win system hold the CTRL key when you Apply the pose, a menu will pop up, turn off all X, Y, Z translations in the MIDDLE top to bottom row at the bottom of the menu. On a Mac I have no clue but it is the key that act's as Ctrl on a PC.
The Poses that Change Morphs I've not seen before. Could you please post a screen capture of that? One of the Pose Icon is really all that is needed.
HI, I was so hopeful but, alas, I can't see that option on my Mac. I've tried CMD, ALT, CTRL, and FN -- no luck. By the way, when you say "when you apply the pose" I guess you mean when I click on the pose icon?
As for the morph reset thing, I've probably got dozens of freebie poses and some of them are probably not tuned to DS (maybe they work fine in Poser).
Here's a screenshot of some of those that have that issue:
For location POSES
The best use is the "create group"
I create a group and I merge the character inside that group
On the first location "pose" I move my "group" to adapt in the located pose!
When done, then all next pose is are stays in the location.
another solution is the via menu "MEMORISE POSE"
once you got to the first "location pose" use the "memorise pose"
that keep the location on the scene and not the save location
notes:
- in some poses even if I LOCK the X,Y,Z, the character move in the scene location!
Those poses are dedicated to provided scene.
- for SHAPE you can also use the feature "MEMORISE SHAPE", because some poses include not only body moves but also body shapes and expressions!
I'm not sure I understand what a "group" is - especially when the term is used for a single figure pose.
Does Memorise Pose mean that I can change the pose then go back to it later? Again, I'm not clear.
Lastly - I can't find the Lock X,Y,Z anywhere - is it accessible from a menu or does it have to be the CTRL-Click option?
Most commands that are controlled by CTRL on Windows, are controlled by CMD, Command, also known as the Apple-key on Mac OS X.
I've certainly used poses that also 'impose' a character morph on the figure. Can't recall which off the top of my head though.

check the >MENU > "CREATE GROUP"
you have the choice
you "parent" the character to the group you can position more easy in a separate scene!
more usefull when you need to added more than one character in a scene!
also, you can insert a whole scene in a group,,
in this case you can move it and adapt to default position of character pose!
two option,,
Perhaps this is the answer:

Poses can be saved as "rotation only" poses, but they require more work and an understanding of the tools available, but those apply without zeroing the figure's position/translation or changing any morphs.
NOTE:
CTRL pop up options pose show only if yoy are in “Daz Studio Format” pose selection!
nothing happend when you are in “Poser Format” selection!
Thanks, but how do I know which "Format" I am in?

on content library:
first line > DAZ STUDIO FORMAT <<< there the CTRL show pop up option<br /> in second line > POSER FORMATS
next, OTHERS IMPORT FORMATS
Ahhh -- of course -- Doh!
I don't think I have any poses for pre-Genesis figures that are anything but Poser format.
