Need info and help regarding DS Face Rig Control and Adv Rig Control for Genesis

Dear all,

Today I got a YouTube video in how to use face and expressions control on Genesis. Firstly the video has only sound audio and secondly no description info underneath about what feature or utility is used and comments option also locked. I am quite inexperienced as I haven't played with Genesis much.

This looks very great and hopefully someone can direct me in where to find this feature/utility in DS4.6. Or is it a separate plugin, and if so, which plugin? Somewhere in the video one of the menus states "PF Control" but on searching for such I am only directed to Dynamic Control and other control options but not for PF Control in DS. This looks a very promising tool as one can do quite extensive morphing with this as in the video. There is another video for Adv Rig Control by same uploader I am interested to do, links to both underneath.

Face/Rig Control for Genesis (video link):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbcbOrNNvOM

More Advanced Rig Control for Genesis (video link). Is this also a built-in feature of DS4.6?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXJU8fES7dk

Any help is much appreciated as I am very interested in morphing on the Genesis character in DS4.6! :-)

Kind regards,

Laura

These images are not from DAZ Studio at all, they are from a mixture of Maya and iClone I believe.

The video gives a link to a thread in the Mantis Bug Tracker where this functionality is 'requested' for DAZ Studio.

Thank you Jimmy for your reply! Do you think such morphing could be possible with the morphing packages for Genesis sold at Daz3D (Evolution morph bundle)? Well, if this was requested for DS as you mentioned, maybe not? Or how else can one do such extensive morphing? I am only learning and do not know much!

EDIT: According the comments at 2nd video it's not possible in DS currently!!
But the uploader of the videos mentioned Pantomime Plugin that was part of DS2 ... is this still available?

Genesis (the original one) can be a man, woman, child, Gorilla, Anubis etc etc, so it can be morphed to almost any shape you want, using the sliders in the Parameters pane.

I have the Evolution morphs bundle, and I find it very useful. It is roughly equivalent to the V4 or M4 Morphs++. You don't have to use each morph at 100%, you can use a little of many morphs to achieve the required result. If you only have the base Genesis figure, then the Evolution bundle would give you many more options.

You should also look on ShareCG for Genesis morphs (free), and in particular there are morphs by DieTrying converted from V4 to Genesis which add even more functionality.

Content creators would use ZBrush (or similar) to create their own morphs, or even Hexagon. It is not that difficult to do, using the DS bridge to Hexagon, creating the shape, then sending it back to DAZ Studio, where Morph Loader pro will create a slider for the morph. It can also be done in Blender or Wings3D and any other 3D modelling package. I mention Hexagon, because it was given away for free recently, and even now is still very cheap, and it has the added advantage of the bridge to DAZ Studio.

What do you want to achieve with morphing? Are you trying to create a unique figure of your own based on Genesis?

I bought Pantomime in 2006, but I doubt if it would work in DS4.6, and I don't believe that it is for sale now. I can't remember exactly how it worked, but there is a plugin which comes with DS4 called 'Pupeteer' which seems to do much the same thing. You should be able to find it in Window > Tabs > Pupeteer.

    EDIT:

Jimmy, when I saw the video and possibilities it caught my attention. Well, yes, I am interested to try anything unique that I can share with others when I eventually have more experience. I have to admit though that I haven't played around with any programs up to now but am very keen to start now. ZBrush (quite an old version) and Hexagon2, I also have but even with these programs I haven't done anything (yet). Now I am on pension and have much more time to start playing! In everything I do, including 2D, I try to put my own mark on my creations. But there are times that I do mess up, such as creating a cabinet model in Bryce but have no idea how to export it as an .obj! No such option in Bryce if model is in Bryce format! Well, this is all a learning process!! The cabinet is uploaded at my ShareCG account - http://www.sharecg.com/v/65782/view/5/3D-Model/My-first-ever-3D-model-Shop-cabinet-Bryce-7 Something strange at my ShareCG account. When I open my gallery a few minutes ago, only a very few items appears! But when I go into my account I found the rest still to be there - for a moment I thought it was hacked! It's still very odd that it's not showing in gallery as should be! :red: I had to dig up the link out of my account!

Thank you for all your info and advice! Yes, I actually have plenty of ShareCG models, including those of DieTrying. I also got today a template for Genesis PowerPose by BlackFeather1973!

there is nothing in those videos you could not do yourself using morphs.
all it is showing is how iClone's puppeteer system works on figures retargeted to work in iClone
you could set yourself up something simillar using Daz studio Puppetteer and the Genesis Evolution facial morphs
just move the morph sliders for each facial part eg right eyeling down etc in a ring with all zero parameters in centre and create a puppeteer dot for it in edit mode
you then can scroll between these dots the same.
That said, I have and use iClone5 & 3dx5 pipeline and it is pretty cool video/movie animation software suite,
(albeit a tad pricey, you can get a demo with pro features enabled for 30 days and limited but useable functions after)
I myself think it is worth it and Daz resells it too.
(if doing animated game engine style videos is your main intention that is)
for still renders you are better off in just studio as this fast animation sacrifices a lot of quality

    Hi Wendy,

Thanks for all your help and advice too! iClone is too pricey for me with low pension income. I will however go and check out the demos! Actually my pc is very low on ram and needs to be upgraded to be able to run most of these high quality programs! I am not sure if I will go into animation at this point but still renders are what I am doing currently. All this is only for personal use anyways as art is a passionate hobby of mine, maybe one day in future I can sell stuff when I have build up lots of experience ... first starts playing!! :cheese:

iClone you need a decent video card
it uses the graphics proccessor to render like a video game
you can get iClone 4 for free at moment if you do not need to use Daz characters
it is great for doing animated blogs and such.

3dxchange5 and iC5 content will not work with it
but the inbuilt stuff pretty cool, you can get quite a few freebies from iC marketplace too
free is a very good price and will give a better idea about iClone

Thanks Wendy ... will definitely go and check all out! Yes, if there is a free version of any program I usually grab it! :)
