Converting older items into usable items for new Genesis models

I'm sure this has been advanced before, but there are quite a few items like plate-mail armour or other 'hard' material items of clothing that would work wonderfuly with new textures or shaders, but just made to fit the new models. Is this such a difficult task to convert them?

Apparently, because I've been asking for re-releases of V4 fantasy stuff for Genesis figures for years. I've also been told by a number of PAs that they would rather work on something new than to rework or remake an old creation, so unfortunately I wouldn't hold my breath.
