Smart Content not adding new purchases after DIM

OS: Windows 7
DAZ: 4.6

Not a big deal, it is just a minor annoyance.
But Smart Content is not adding any of my purchases.
I think it stopped after I started using DIM.

I have re-imported the meta data several times.
I even uninstalled everything and re-installed. (Though I forgot to erase the hidden user/app folder. I think that may have made the whole process pointless.)
The DAZ CMS shows up in my Services Taskbar. I've turned it on and off and on again.

Anywho, I'm not sure what happened.
The switch to DIM was not textbook, but I can find everything in the regular "not-smart" Content window.

Is something just not pointing to the right folder?
Is there any way to kickstart this thing?
Should I just do a complete and utter uninstall (includng the app folder this time)?
Will that help?

Can you help??

Thanks for the time: timestealingsmile

Sounds like the Import Metadata Page has been turned off.

In DS press F2 or Edit > Preferemces > go to the Start Up Tab in the Preferences window and make sure "Show Metadata Import Page" is checked.

You do know :) are working?

    Oh, nice try.

    But strike 1.

Another side bit, in my documents I now have 2 DAZ 3D Folders.
One goes: DAZ 3D > Studio > My Library > Runtime, etc (same as it has always been)
The other newer one goes: DAZ 3D > InstallManager>all the stuff in there (I really don't know why DIM made this folder, but it is there)

Sorry step back a bit I am losing you.

So you installed content to My Documents\DAZ3D\My Library. Yes?
    Then started using the DIM?
And now the content gets installed to a different locaction because you didn't change the install path in DIM or watch the vids on how to use DIM? ;)

If this is the case then you need to let Daz Stduio now where to find the new content folder http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/11176/#160953

    DIM webpage http://www.daz3d.com/install-manager-info

    last Vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6E4ft-bsPL0

I am pretty sure your new content will be in C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\My DAZ 3D Library.

If Daz Studio doesn't know where the content is then the metadata window won't engage and run when you open Daz Studio after installing content.

Close, my content is installed to My Documents\DAZ3D\My Library. Yes.
But my new content is also installed to My Documents\DAZ3D\My Library.

The only thing in the other DAZ 3D folder is the InstallManager and its associated folders ... no content ... no runtime ... no nothing.
So the content is going to the right place ... ... ...

Riiiight videos ... I much prefer half-reading the forums. :)

Anywho, it is a hot mess. Is there an emoticon for that?

So begs the question do these items have metadata?
Do they show up in the Content Library Pane, which i should have asked first. That will let you know if all is getting installed properly?

It could be, another guess soory, a corupt database http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/8028/#105548

Yes, I can find everything in the Content Library Pane. :)
I'll give the corruption a quick read here.

Well at least all the content is getting installed. Looks like CMS is playing up. I take it the other older installed content shows up in Smart Content?

    I think it is true.
I should have picked up a hobby that involved something simple, like colored strings.
Yes, in hindsight that would have been much more suiting. :)

    Well, thanks for trying.
I guess I will continue to ignore it until I feel inspired.or uninspired enough to do a complete uninstall.
Maybe I will watch that video too.
Though not necessarily in that order. ;)

So, the content is working in the content library, and it gets listed when you use re-import metadata, but after re-import metadata it's still missing? I suspect a corrupt database. If you have done your own categorization, Export User Data, shut down DS, stop CMS and delete the databases, then restart CMS, start DS, and re-import metadata again.

It worked one time. Everything was there.
Then I shut down DAZ Studio, started it up again and now the Smart Content tab is completely empty. :(

Something is Killing your CMS after DAZ Studio starts, please confirm it stops after DS is opened and Not before. You can Turn it on from it's folder, then check Task manager to see if its running. Then open DS and Check again in task manager RUNNING Processes.

OK, I have run the Start DAZ Content Services program.
    Then I started DAZ Studio.
I see DAZContentManagementService in the "Service" tab of the task manager.
I do not see it running in the "Processes" tab.

Does it say Running in the Services tab?

Correct, I followed the previous instructions.

If you have done your own categorization, Export User Data, shut down DS, stop CMS and delete the databases, then restart CMS, start DS, and re-import metadata again.

Everything was working great, and updated.

    I exited DAZ Studio for a while, I didn't touch anything ... I swear.

I started Studio back up, and the Smart Content tab is empty ... both products and files tab show no thmbnails at all ... Regular Content Library is fine.

CMS in running in the services tab.

One thing, I deleted the databese folder from the cms folder only. That was correct, yes?

It's worth checking that you don't have another database folder in ProgramData or AppData.

    There was another one, yes.
It only added to my confusion.
    Re-imported the meta data again.
    Everything showed up.
Turned off DAZ ... it was all gone again.
    :/

Well that's enough time spent on this.
I have some down time this weekend.
I'm just going to install fresh.
Hopefully that will get everything back on track.

Thanks for all your help and advice. ;)

I also had the problem that my cms did not work as intended.
    After the fourth time of
    - de-installing cms
    - deleting databse (in the hidden folder)
    - re-installing DAZ
    - re-importing metadata
    suddenly everything worked.
As far as I know each time I did the same thing, so I have no clue why it worked after the fourth try.
Be persistent - sometimes it seems to help...
    ;o)
