DS Cartoon Render clarification, please?
I have a question about the Cartoon Render Setting.
I recently built a character and added some Elite Human Surface Shaders to some of the surfaces. It came out great using the Default Render Setting. For laughs, I thought I'd use the Cartoon Render Setting on the scene. Turns out all the EHSS surfaces rendered as they would in Default setting and didn't render Cartoon-ized as I'd hoped. Which leads me to a couple of questions:
1) Does the Cartoon Render Setting only work on DAZ Default shaders? Would it not work on, say, the new Subsurface Shaders?
2) If #1 above is true, might there be a way to Cartoon-ize the EHSS surfaces from within DAZ?
3) I'm no whiz with Shader Builder, but might there be a way to use it to make a Cartoon version of EHSS? Step by step instructions would be greatly appreciated as my earlier attempts to use it were very frustrating.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone might provide.
Comments
1) Yes, setting the mode to cartoon changes the code the default shader executes. Other shaders aren't set up to do this and so won't change their output.
2) Not really, you'd need a new shader (or access to the source code for EHSS)
3) Yes, I should think so - people have made toon shaders with Shader Mixer, so it would "just" be a question of deciding how you wanted the thing to work and implementing it. Not that I have any idea on how to do so.
Ah, thanks for that clarification, Richard.
Now if anyone would like to point me to a cartoon version of EHSS, I'd be all set. ;)
