3D Text

Can anyone explain why my 3D text winds up looking so odd in Hexagon? I tested it out on a few fonts and it doesn't look right. Attached is what Arial looks like.

  • Here's the steps for making text for OBJ export in Hex:

    1) Click the Text 3D icon and set tesselation to 3 and bevel to concave.

    2) Enter text and validate.

    3) Click the Average Weld icon and validate. This makes the text one object from seperate objects.

    4) Click the Triangulate n-gons icon.

    5) Then smooth by hitting PageUp one time (optional).

You must be using the Macintosh version.

The text tool has been broken in the Mac version for many years now. This malformed text problem was pointed out during beta testing for the 2.5.1 release, but it was not fixed before the final release.

The last Mac version of Hexagon that had a working text tool was version 2.5.0.5.
