Product Updates

Hi, not sure if this is the correct place to ask, but I didn't find anything in the help section of the site, but I need to know how to we find out if a product we've purchased in the past has been updated. I've purchased a ton of stuff in the last 7 or 8 years, so I really don't feel like scrolling through my 1,000+ items list and downloading every single thing, just on the off chance that there might have been an update.

    Someone else will have another answer but the easiest way I know of is to use the install manager. It isn't 100% but it is getting there.

    If you have a good internet connection, your best bet is to use the Install Manager to download everything -- once you've done that once it will inform you of future updates, and you can just select everything and start the whole queue downloading.

    ...you don't need to install just DL the whole lot again, correct?

    Yes, update notifications require either the downloaded zip or the manifest file. Since you don't, as I recall, have your work machine online, if space is limited on your work machine you might want to download, back up the zip, install to a blank folder and then manually empty the folder (not unisntall with DIM) - that way you will have the manifest, as if the content is installed, and will get update notices without having to fill your on-line machine with zips.

    Yes, heaven forbid DAZ should actually do something like, I don't know, inform people when a product is updated?

    Personally I think it is rather ludicrous to expect some one to download 27 pages of content just to find out when anything gets updates. Of coarse that wont do you a bit of good for items that have been updated since you bought it, but didn't use DIM to download them. So once you have all 27 pages downloaded you still wont know if any of it has been updated since you bought it.

    Seriously all it would take is for DAZ to move updated items; updated since perches, to the top of your product library list.

    I have 1 "my library" and 27 runtimes, DIM is fairly worthless to me. I certainly don't need it to download one or two items. It may be of a bit of use if I decide to revamp my runtimes; as in redownload and reinstall, but only if it can be set to download the filtered product list to an empty folder for sorting and installing. But if you aren't downloading and installing in mass I don't see the point of it; I have my suspicions but can't voice them. {think rope}

    So to answer your question, no, there is now way to know if any of your content has been updated if you didn't use DIM to download it. Ain't that so fun and helpful :long: Sorry, I have never believed the slogan "my way is the only right way". And tend to get rather irritated when it is being forced down my throat at every turn.

    ...actually I recently changed my network Service provider and now have a direct hardwired cable connection (actually for less per month than the old wireless plan cost). I reinstalled the DIM and have been running a few tests with new purchases directly to the workstation and so far it has been putting things where they should go, even with my multi -drive setup.

    OK so considering I now have a fast and uninterrupted connection, say I decide before turning in tonight that I want to DL the everything on the list (that I didn't already DL with the DIM), where are the installers stored prior to downloading? I cleared quite a bit of space on the main drive archiving the old .exe installers I originally used when I set the new system up and moved all my yet uninstalled freebies to the larger D Drive.

    Click the gear icon at top-right in DIM to get to preferences, then look at the Downloads tab - the path is at the top.
