Hint Of Gen 5 Iconic Character Shapes?

Okay, I was looking at the new Women's Business Suit for Genesis 2 Female(s) and something I'm not entirely sure of are the supported Fit Morphs that directly listed in the included features.

Are these listed with the reference to SickleYield's G2F Clone or is this perhaps a hint to some possible Gen 5 Iconic Character Shapes for Genesis 2?

Looks to me like it is just an updated of the product to include Gen 2 compatibility. http://www.daz3d.com/women-s-business-suit I'd question why you need to rebuy the product for that... at the very least original owners should get a substantial discount.

Because it's the NEW way DAZ does business?

Yes Richard go ahead and pull it, just a snide remark no matter how poignant it may be.

Hmmm ... weren't we supposed to be able to autofit most of our Genesis 1 items to the Genesis 2 Female? Or is that a thing of the past now?

Yes, you can AutoFit G1 to G2F just as you could AutoFit gen 4 to G1. But that isn't usually going to be as good as a custom conversion, just as a transferred morph in the clothing won't be the equal of a hand sculpted (or tidied up) morph.

In this case I strongly suspect that the list of shapes is indeed carried over from the page for the G1 version - in fact I just installed and the morphs installed are V6 and Gia, so I'm pretty sure that's the case. I have pointed to oddity out, so if I'm right it will no doubt be fixed tomorrow.

If they are for G2F, they'll possibly be needed when GenX2 gets done.

    "Autofollow", "mesh-flow", etc.

That doesn't add up at all. There wasn't anything like that for Genesis 1 (for gen X), and with GenX it's not official shapes. Also when you transfer them you can name them as you wish, so it wouldn't necessarily be respected as the same thing by the clothing item.

For example they may be looking for a shape named Stephanie 5, but you transferred it over as FBMStephanie5.

Not the same thing, and the fits won't work.

This was one of the things I was going to say earlier but declined. I already transferred over my Genesis 1/Gen4/Gen3 shapes over to G2F, but fit morphs like the ones mentioned wouldn't work unless I went back and renamed all the morphs to match how the new clothing expects them to be named.

Sorry Lars, you got the wrong end of the stick, I'm purely talking about why someone might want Genesis 1 shapes on Genesis 2 i.e. importing some of pre-existing Genesis 1 characters via a commercial product - clothing fits are irrelevant to my point.

Incidentally, to use legacy characters on Genesis via GenX, you need to have the legacy iconic shapes installed, so I'm guessing a similar arrangement would be how a GenX2 product would work.

sorry if i wasn't clear before

Dial the shape into G2F and the clothes morph with it.

For better understanding, morph Genesis into a character and apply a clothing item on it. Then, give your Hidden Parameters a gander.

You are right, I think i partially forgot about the "official shapes" which I did use for Genesis 1. But I then shifted those official shapes over to Genesis 2, and don't need to get them AGAIN! So yeah, if you go with a commercial solution to do this...argh

I won't buy official shapes yet again, it's just milking a teatless cow who died a decade or so ago and was sold to the butcher.

Original tools? Original content? Not here I guess. Sadness.

Well that ain't right. How will the DAZ corp heads take their vacation to Hawaii if you don't spend, respend, then spend again, on basically the same content? Or rebuy stuff because there has been fit morph updates added.

I'm going to have to give up on this, just too rich a hobby for my blood.

Yuk... even the Serious Business texture expansion is being resold as a different product from the Genesis version. I hope that is not a trend... will be very confusing for customers since it looks like the identical dress and textures.

I suppose since DAZ can do it why can't the PA's? After all DAZ has been refitting Gen 3 clothing to Gen 4 and even to Genesis and reselling it years. Not to mention the V4 or M4 version of an outfit and it's accompanying unimesh fits.

Remember that Serious Business also includes a conforming scarf.

The product page has now been updated to show the correct morph list - Victoria 6 and Gia, as in the blurb.
