Export as an OBJ file and import into 3DS Max. That's how I usually do it. Unfortunately, OBJ doesn't support rigging data so you won't be able to manipulate them once imported without rigging it again manually. It's still useful if you're simply making morphs or other modifications for exporting back to Daz Studio, but if you want to export it in a format which has rigging then I've yet to find a suitable method. The FBX importer has never worked properly for me in all of my cleverly devised attempts, so I've given up trying now.
Correct. FBX has been borked for a while. You could also try dae {collada} But I doubt it would work any better. Although you may be able to salvage the rigging.
{Snide comment.} You really think DAZ wants you working this in other apps? ;-)
Fact. No apps write FBX or collada the same way. Yes, they should, that was the intent of the formats.
I had no trouble getting Genesis rigged and animated into 3dsMax 2014
(on my first day of my 30 day trial, not done much since admittedly)
