Top floor Skyscraper exterior HDRIs
This is something I've been looking for for a while: HDRI's taken at a highly elevated position in densely populated areas.
To better explain: say, you're at the top floor of a building, and you look through the windows: you'll see other buildings. The roofs of buildings around you will be much lower relative to the horizon, some will even be at a lower altitude, meaning you'd see those roofs from above. Ideally, such HDRIs would actually be computer generated, since, the user of such files would want to build a "room" (whether that's a flat appartment or some roof-scene) him or herself, instead of data from whatever roof the picture was taken from. The HDRI would provide the background and exterior lighting, NOT the primary assets of the surroundings.
Variations could involve HDRIs taken at different altitudes as well as different times of day, but also things like modern styled, castle walls (but no castle!), sci-fi dystopian, sci-fi utopian, Steampunk, you name it.
The problem I have with most "location" HDRI's, is that they dominate the setting, rather than support it. In addition, HDRIs from real locations don't always mesh with CGI characters, and require DOF and postwork to blend with them. Exterior HDRIs for use with interior settings could take backgrounds to a next level, giving a background of higher quality than a regular background image, at a lower rendering cost than adding a dozen mock-up buildings and trees around the scene that would all need their own lighting.
