Optitex dynamic clothing + fit morphs for certain figures

Hi!

I'm experimenting with the Optitex clothing and created some obj based morphs (for the clothing item) to fit the clothing onto different figures.
Before the drape I turn on the morphs. When I then do an animated drape, it seems as if the morphs are being applied again during the drape (so 200% instead of 100%). The morph dials don't change tho.

Apparently dynamic clothing wants to get back to its original state (and scale) when draping... ?

I'm wondering if what I'm trying to achieve is actually possible, and if anyone has any experience with morphing dynamic clothes, please tell me how it's done! :-)

Thanks in advance.

Dynamic clothing can neither be morphed nor rescaled, so what you're trying to do is sadly not possible. It seems like a conscious effort on the part of the developer to design it in a way where it rubber bands to its original state when any kind of drape is applied. Perhaps so that people purchase their (loftily expensive) developers pack for creating their own dynamic cloth. Personally, if I were going to spend over a thousand dollars for such limited dynamic clothing I'd rather just spend it on buying the latest Poser Pro and then have any outfit available as a dynamic cloth.

Unfortunately, until we get a more flexible system in place, the Optitex option is the only one Daz Studio users have. Thank goodness I didn't uninstall my copy of Poser when I made the switch. It's proved invaluable a great many times.

Why Optitex, why!!!??? Such a shame, and such a waste of money! Their products could be so good.
Thanks for your reply, btw. Soooo... Poser. Hmmm... Wasn't planning on getting it, but this might just be a selling point for me. For now I'll just stick with conforming clothing. Seriously, what a waste!

If only Poser would improve their female walk cycle so it doesn't look so corny!

What "different figures" are you trying to fit the clothes on to, are they morphed, and what figures were the clothes originally made for?

The whole point of having a dynamic clothes system is that they do not need morphs to fit to a morphed figure they've been made for, or even (within limits) another figure of similar size/shape. The biggest limitation with Optitex dynamics is that they really can't be draped on a much bigger figure, and draping on a much smaller figure is fiddly, can't always be done, and requires the Dynamic Control plugin.

Yes, as soon as you start the drape, the clothes will revert to its original 100% scale. This can be worked around — the two figures in the attached pic are both wearing the V4 Qui Pao Dress and both are based on Aiko 3. The trick is scaling and rotating each part of the clothes, working out from the hip, by small amounts. Once you have a reasonably close initial position, start your drape and expect your first try will probably not work.

It's not a solution, and it's not a total failure if it doesn't work the first time, you might have to fiddle with it a bit. The biggest problem I have is that the V4 and A3 figures are rigged in different ways, especially at the shoulders and thighs, so long sleeves or long skirts can be tricky. But it is (as I said, within limits) possible.
