Posing is Slow after applying Character settings

I am wondering why all posing controls come to a slow crawl after loading some character setting to a figure. It doesn't happen with all character settings, only some. I've tried turning off all clothing materials, smoothing options and it's still slow. I can even load a basic Genesis next to it, and posing it is nice and fast, as expected.

What's causing the posing slow down? How can I keep the character, but make it posing it faster?

Any help would be great!

Thanks,

m.

The Morph updates on the figure, some use way more morphs than others. There is a setting some place to turn updates on and off. I need to learn that trick myself. Turn off pose turn on to render or test. But you must wait for the Update BAR, lower right, to finish or you get weird results.

There are a couple of things that could be going on here...

If the figure is clothed it could be smoothing/collision detection occurring.
If it only happens right after adding textures to Genesis then it's probably "tdlmake" running and using up resources in the background.

Check if interactive update is enabled under clothing items listed in smoothing menu. That usually slows things down. Disable it and only enable once you have your pose you like.

    Ah! Problem solved!

It was indeed the Interactive Update and Smoothing to a pair of pants, applied to the figure, that was slowing everything down. What was confusing me was that turning off the Visibility to the clothing doesn't solve the problem! You need to turn off the Interactive Update and Smoothing or remove the clothing completely to get the posing speed back to what it is like normally.

It took me a while to find where the setting was, so here is a screen capture for all that are interested in finding it. Select the clothing and find the interactive update and smoothing options under the Parameters pane (tab), Mesh Smoothing.

    Thank you!

There's a little progress bar at the bottom right of the viewport when the smoothing is occurring that will help you spot that in the future. It's easy to miss!
