Has anyone used Oxygen for DS?

I'm wondering how it's worked out. It has Ubersurface & HSS shader settings, SSS mats, and happens to be on sale atm.

Nice skin but mt first thoughts in Ds wasn't good. I haven't played with it much but it really is more Poser orientated and the DS mats seem to be a last minute thought. But these are just my opinions take them for what they are.
The skin is a bit low resolution for my tastes, so I didn't buy it. It has a lot of strong competition if it wants the SSS crown in Daz Studio.
I bought it and along with its Mask add on, I really like it; personally I thought the DS settings were very good much more than a last minute thought.
Opinions vary concerning textures and it has a lot to do with the sort of effect you are after.
I also don't really understand Herald of Fire's comment about the textures being low resolution I don't find them so at all, the maps are 4000 x 4000 which is the same size as the Daz elite range. As he doesn't actually own it I find the comment to be a bit unfair.
Actually that kind of makes sense to me, especially with the limbs. Have you ever tried matching the textures of the body and the limbs when making a 2nd skin? You either need to vary the size of the mat used or change the size of the template in order to get a match without obvious "seams" where the legs join the body.
I'll admit I'm unaware of how difficult it can be. All I can do is judge based on other texture sets I currently own and the newer ones almost all use 4k textures for every skin surface aside from inner mouth. I'll admit I'm a little bit picky though. Since Genesis 2, there have been new skins using the subsurface shader which are mindblowingly realistic right out of the packet (not least of all the recent Sisters' skin released alongside Growing Up), so it takes a fair bit to impress me.
I'm not saying it's not a good skin, I don't own it to judge, just that my criteria for purchases has had the bar set a bit higher in recent times.
The skins you are referring to are G2F. This is a V4/Genesis product, so not really the same. Although it would be interesting to have a comparison of the results of various skins side-by-side (under controlled lighting of course.)
I will stand by my comments as when this first came out there was no DS mats...Poser only and I came to that conclusion I came to was because of my many years of learning about DS mats and Uber Surface. As I said the skin textures are nice I like them so for me it is no biggie to get them working and looking ok. For someone who wants a one click preset to render I think it was a last minute after thought as the vender was asked numourous times to supply some DS presets but i doubt very much that a lot of thought went in to makiing them. But as I said earlier these are my opionions, I don't care if people disagree with them or not. :P
Well the original vendor didn't do the DS mats but rather had someone else do them for whatever that's worth... They are basically two different products with the same base mats, both because of the different artists and different shaders. How well the DS artist was able to accomplish his task is basically what is in question here, along with the quality of the base mats being able to translate into 3DLight space.
It looks like you got the product Szark and tried it?
Could you elaborate on this?
There was a thread about this skin in the forum a while back...here: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/6939/
Both Syyd and Vince Bagna posted in the thread, and there are some more DS renders as well. (I don't own the product but it interests me so I've looked around for more info too...)
Could you elaborate on this?
Realistic, painterly, toon, just to give a few examples off the top of my head that require different sorts of textures.
Thanks everyone. I had forgotten that thread Scott, it helped a lot. I'm somewhat comfortable with US2/HSS and can get good results so after looking at the set, I don't think it fits a need for me personally. The main thing I need is some good SSS mats for V4/Gen1.
Yes I have it Gedd.
Thanks Szark :)
I do all my rendering in Vue and they go over very well. Syyd's products are really good. I always modify mats in Vue, but I need good ones to use as my base.

Hi Gedd! Personally I like Oxygen, as well as Vanilla Sky and Horizon, they all have Daz Studio settings and I like how different they are from most of the textures and characters available. Here are 2 pictures using the supplied Daz Studio settings with Oxygen, one with the HSS shader and one with Ubersurface. The texture maps are at 3000 X 3000. Oxygen doesn't come with any makeups, but does have a few different eye colors. Please forgive my pictures, hopefully they are somewhat helpful :) -Cathy
Thanks Cathy, I think I'm going to pick up Horizon as it looks like a good middle age skin and those are somewhat rare. It is also on sale this weekend. :)
Decent product, but not one I use very much. It's one of those products that, when the time comes, you'll be really glad you have it, but those times are kinda few and far between (for me, anyways -- your experience with it may vary). I've only used it in DS, so I can't tell you how well it works in Poser.
