Thank you Kaz much appreciated and apologies for the late reply. It has been hectic recently and still not getting all notifications and I am still buzzing a week later. :)

As some of you know I have had PC issues all year and I cannot wait until I have $1500.00 together which would be another 9 months or so to be able to use DS4.6. I have started a project that needs DS4.6 so with the cash I have spare and with my Agros Store Credit Limit I could afford this to keep me going http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/018520.htm

To me an i7 2600 is old yes but way better than my puny dual core
8GB Ram not that good (upgradable to 16GB) but again way better than 2 GB
    64 bit
1 TB HDD is what I have now so that is fine
GC is better than what I have now too.
    USB 2.0 only

So anybody had any experience with i7 2600 (not 2600K)?

Better than my current system in every way but RAM, though of course I don't know how their build quality is. (I have an i7 920, nVidia 450 some letters, and 12 GB of RAM).

Szark my friend that is very comparable to my old HP I just left. The only difference I see is the bus speed. That should do you well.

Richard thanks. I believe the build quality is pretty good with a good track record and they only seem to use parts from the major players, I been reading up on this company for a while now, though for the one I had in mind was to be from PCSpecialists built to my specs.

Jaderail thanks man yeah not what I wanted but comparing eggs with eggs this is one hell on an omelette compared this ole thing I am using.

    I think I will hit the buy button......tomorrow. ;)

Hi Pete, have you ever looked at PC's made by Novatech? I've used their bare bones systems as my last couple of machines and always found the build quality, price and reliability to be really decent. My current PC has clocked up literally hundreds of render hours and never had an issue with overheating or crashes etc.

Might save you some money as they're very competitive against retailers.

    Cheers

    Jay

Ah, my browser hadn't updated and saw you bought it! Looking forward to some new renders from it!

    Thanks Jad

Jay yeah I have dealt with Novatech years ago however the Argos Credit that I have on my Argos Card is key for getting a PC now. Plus I get 6 months Interest Free credit which I will be able to pay with what is left after adding some saved cash to the total.

I just have 6GB but mine is a lap top with an external monitor :)

say Richard, do you render images? Something I wanted to asked for so long but have forgotten it :)

Not for ages. Quite possibly not since the forum switch.

    Public Apology

Sometime ago I said on these forums that Uber Environment 2 Indirect Lighting does work like many think it does and I was very adamant about it. I was plain WRONG.

Recently I have been testing Uber Surface and using UE2 set to IDL to render with and noticed it did work as many thought. Not quite Global Illumination but my test shows that IDL uses the main source of light (sun) to calculate the bounced light. I don't have any examples yet to show but as soon as my new PC comes I will.

Jad you offered help with DIM a while back and I would like to ask a question or two.

First off if I select DAZ 4.5+ as a main Filter am I guaranteed to get all content or are some still tagged as older Poser only?

I noticed Garibaldi Hair doesn't show up in DIM and the webpage confirms that...Not a question direct to you but I wonder why that is.

Also does DIM time out often when selecting a lot of items to DL and install. I had terrible trouble keeping a stable connection. As soon as I went a few items as a time I had no trouble.

All in all I now love DIM. Freaking awesome if you ask me. Yes I was hesitant first but I have seen the light. Now to do all my free content...again.

Szark as long as the pack of content is flagged properly you will get every file needed including Poser formats when you use DIM for your installs. I have had only 3 items fail and all 3 were reported and updated. They now work fully. I use DIM fully for my DS4.6 installs now.
The New DIM is supposed to support Resume. I'm on a high bit Broad Band system so I can not speak to if it functions properly or not. I've not had any installs fail though if that helps any.
I've not used Baldi so I have zero info to offer on it. At this time I do not even have my FULL LAMH installed. I prefer none Beta programs for full installs. And at this time only the Beta LAMH supports the new Big Cat duf presets or the LAMH Player, which I do use.

Thanks Jaderail. I thought that might be the case after looking through my new library

Resume didn't work for me, the item half DLed and wouldn't install, but let's face it DIM is so darn easy to use,10 seconds later I had it fixed.

I am concerned through that some things may be missed with not having DS3 in the main filter, I don't want to use Poser and DS3A any more and therefore see no need to install all files. I think I may have to go through one at a time and check. See you in a week. :)

Oh and I have a 40 MB broadband speed so that shouldn't be an issue of DIM timing out and asking me to log in again. That must be a DAZ3D server issue surely? Strange how it only does it when I select a lot of items. Can be the computer with all this power and ram.

Well I see all my Content files, even the Stuff I ran in DS3A, The only files that I do not have from DS3A when using DIM are my old DS3A pluggin files or content files for those plugins. Things like LDP2 and MoodMaster never show but they do not work in DS4 anyway so no loss. But as far as Content content goes I'm finding stuff in DS4 that I never even saw in DS3 and I know it was installed.

As for the DIM timing out I think it has to be the Cloud issue. If the Cloud and DAZ and DIM get far enough out of step it's just going to break. Tip for you. I get Cloud issues every night at DAZ Server time. Avoid that as a install time.

What time is that? LOL Give me the local time and I can convert no problem. ;)

Anyway it is no biggie, all content installed and yes I went digging for DL's Surface Mask Creator.

    Thanks Jaderail

I can not wait till your fully back up and running Szark. I have learned so much from you and am looking forward to more from you as you get back into the game again. Now if I would just use some of the things I learned and stop wanting those super fast I need 12 renders a day for a comic book type renders ideas out of my work flow I might improve my renders some. Habits are so hard to break when you get into them.

One distant light that gets loaded with DT's light rig.

So that is al you want, what's inside my head. LOL
Habits...I try not to get into them. Laticis said to me a while back that eventually I would find my style. I said I don't want to have a style and try hard not to get in to a style rut. I have so much fun doing different types of images.

No, no. Its not just the stuff in your head I'm after. It's the renders you post too. So Info then Renders and well after that I guess your pretty much not needed after that... ;-)

I ruined myself trying to get FAST. And as most know fast is often sloppy. I have decided to step back and rethink much of the things I do now.

Szark, if you get some time can you give any tips as to how to use that hair? I haven't tried it yet, but over on my thread someone mentioned toying with it. Did you find it easy to use?
