triangulate and subd making clothing?

Hi.
When I bring an obj into Daz, for what I've read, it is best to subD before using the transfer unit so I can later do morphs. correct?
Under geometry the choices are triangulate and subd. What is the difference in those two?
Thanks
Kimberly

To SubD or not to SubD shouldn't affect whether you can make morphs. Whether you want to will depend on how smooth your base mesh is, and how well the detail stands up to the smoothing of SubD (though there are edge-weighting tools to help with that).
SubD is a smoothing method that divides the actual polygons into four, or sixteen, or sixty-four, or.... depending on viewport or render settings and rounds out the angles with the extra density - it is a live effect, calculated from the base mesh in its current state (pose and morphs) and isn't available for morphing. Triangulate, on the other hand, turns all the current polygons into triangles (splitting quadrangles in half, for instance) - it can be useful for dealing with mesh oddities but isn't something you would routinely use, and it does change the base mesh.
