Does the "220 Emotions for Genesis" product work in Poser?

Hi, I wanted to know if the new 220 Emotions for Genesis product worked in Poser.

The Notes in the Additional Information Tab say that it's compatible and includes a DSON installer:

Genesis shapes are automatically compatible with Genesis in Poser via the DSON Importer for Poser.
This product includes: 1 DSON Core Installer

But the Compatible 3D Software only mentions Daz Studio.

Which is correct?

This isn't the first product to have both contradicting statements above and I've not wanted to risk buying them because of it even though they would have been nice to have but this is the first product that I MUST HAVE so I really want to know!! ;-P

Thanks

DSON stands for Daz Studio Object Notation. In short, it's the file format used by Daz Studio, not to be confused with Poser compatibility. The DSON importer is just that -- a program which imports DSON files into a format useable by Poser. If there are no Poser companion files listed then there's a good chance the item isn't compatible with Poser, sorry.

Ah, you mean the DSON Core Installer the Notes say is included is for Daz.

So the DSON Importer for Poser can't import the DSON Core Installer items?

But what about the first line: Genesis shapes are automatically compatible with Genesis in Poser via the DSON Importer for Poser? It seems to imply that it can.

    I'm confused. :(

I can't really say, as I've never used the importer (I have Poser Pro 2010 and it's incompatible), but if it states it can be imported then one would assume it has any necessary companion files to function with the importer. As I stated, DSON itself is intended as a Daz format, and it's only through the importer than Poser can use the files. The DSON importer acts as a converter, changing the DSON format into something Poser understands, so it can use them.

I was of the understanding that Poser companion files (often abbreviated to Poser CF) were necessary to use these things with the importer. Again though, if it states compatibility then it probably does include the necessary files, in which case it should work fine.

Download and install this python script

    http://d3d.sesseler.de/index.php?software=poserpython&product=dson_loader

Most DSON core intallers are in duf format. The script will allow you to load DSON files without Poser Companion files.

It does require the DSON importer to be installed.

How well the expressions do or do not work in Poser is anyone's guess. I've had some DSON poses work fine and others not.

Because the expressions probably use multiple morph dials, you may find that applying them slows Poser down or even causes the dread library lock up.

If you do purchase the product and you find it does not work for you, DAZ does have a 30 day money back guarantee.

Guys, the expressions are morphs. So just like morphs, the expression dials will automatically show in Poser once dialed, just like any other Genesis morph. It even says so in the description, though not as plainly.

So it WILL work in Poser?

Technically yes. Morphs do not need Companion files really. If they are morphs, then it should work in Poser.

Yeah, when you install morphs to Genesis, they become part of its "DNA", so that any program in which you can open Genesis, the morphs should automatically be available. Not sure if there are exceptions, but I personally haven't run into any yet.
