Werewolf

I'm looking for a werewolf that looks like a more wolf-like werewolf - one with a wolf's head and tail, covered in fur. Skinchangers for G3's fur is too patchy - the preview images show large bald spots on the limbs, chest, and face - and the face looks too humanoid, and the fur on the male's tail is way too thin. Werwulf for G8 has the same problems: huge bald areas, face looks too human, and it lacks a tail.

I think you posted this twice.

    Not on purpose.

  • Merged threads.

You could use the OSO Fur shaders to offset the bald areas.

There are actually a crazy number of different werewolves in the DAZ store. I like MS Lycan as a monster, but the headshape is not very wolf-like. But Lycaon, Garoul, The Man Wolf, Midnight LycanNight World Lycanthropos and Raw World Lycans (which require Lycanthropos) could be worth a look. The most wolf-like heads might be on Lycaon and the Man Wolf, but the modeling is less sophisticated than some of the others. Failing that, some of the 'creature creator' packs have dog-head morphs that might do.

Most of these are largely hairless, though, so you'd probably need to fur them yourself with OSO Fur Shaders or Look at my Hair.

Interesting idea. And the tail, and humanoid face?

True, but very few are along the lines of what I'm looking for. The head is almost never good - wolf ears are supposed to be on top of the head, not the sides, and many of the faces are too flat or just don't get the snout right (Midnight Lycan definitely does not have a wolf snout). Lycanthropos is too cartoony for my taste. Man Wolf is quite old, but if there were an updated version of that (ideally for both genders, and preferably bipedal), it'd be much closer.

    https://www.daz3d.com/hfs-ultimate-shapes-bundle

This has a good base number of shapes to play with. It even has a canine face.

    https://www.daz3d.com/skinchangers

This is not perfect, but using its skin+tail in combination of HFS shapes can help a lot.

This is what I've come up with with the use of various morphs+LAMH.

Interesting. Pretty good, I'll try that.

Crap. I would pay good money for that! :)

Especially if you got the ears to stand up for attentive looking wolfies and then lay back when angry and growling.

  • That is really good, what morph mix ARE you using?

  • RKane_1RKane_1 Posts: 3,037

Actually my own with a few from the kits. The Skin/hair is a combo from Skinchangers and Catworld.

I do Morphs all the time as I have ZBrush, but I am talentless when it comes to texturing and making hair items so far. I wish there were online tuts for that specifically how to use ZBrush to make hair and textrue for Daz. I have found a few but, still a little bewildered. Sculpting is easy and therapuetic for me, though. I find it relaxing. :)

Oh, and this is just the head, really. I haven't done feet or anything else for him yet. :)

It might be profitable too, if you wanted to sell that head morph. I realize other morphs would be needed as well, but I'd still pay for it. It fits in nicely with some of my stylized character sets.

It should be noted that a commercial morph is more than just a sculpt.

    Belieeeeve me. Dear lordie.

Oh, I know. There is checking out to make sure all the eye movements and open mouth and such morphs work well too. I do that for my own sake when I make a morph. I cannot stand having a morph that won't work but I need help testing morphs from time to time.

    The JCMs. Man. JCMS

Otter was bad, but I just put in a product with 80 or so JCMs, most of them around the hands.

With as bad as I warped the mouth, I was pleasantly surprised the open mouth morph worked as well as it did. *chuckle* This was just something I threw together because of this thread. Wanted to try my hand at it. :)

P.S. Oso. Love me the Otter. :) Kudos! Big time.

  • I agree with fireblast.  I have a few of the were wolves, but nothing comes close to that image #3 and that is exactly what I am looking for.  Most of the stuff is too cartoony for my taste too.  A wolf that walks upright like a man, but looks like a wolf.  Some of the Lycans in the Underworld series have that look.  Heck I like how the vampires look in that series as well.  Nothing comes close to the realism in image #3 that Daz currently offers.

The face is a bit more coyote than wolf, but it has a good tail and of course you can just use LAMH presets to get the fur.

RD Phenotype 011 Horde by Sanctum art is still the best looking werewolf model, to bad it was pulled out of the stores.

    This one?

  • Here is the Wolfen morph with Lycaon lamh+materials, not bad in my opinion.

Yep, throw some LAMH on him and look out.
