DAZ Studio version help

Hiya,

Sorry for the absence. I've been configuring my new system and it's been a bear, as usual. Nothing new really! lol

When I lost my backup drive a couple of months ago allot of stuff went with it. ALL my Runtimes and ALL of my backup zips and exe.s. It was as very frustrating and sad day but it is what it is.

So I'm finally getting around to installing all the 3D apps, I always save those for last. DAZ Studio... well I used to have Decimator for free because of some version I owned, now that it's 4.6 I'm being asked for a serial. So wondering if anyone knows what version that was that had that and all the other plugins included? Or is there a more updated but proper version for those that BOUGHT DS when all that was included?? I see that DAZ is at least listing the older DAZ Studio versions in the Product Library so perhaps I can get the right one and get this going in the right direction.

    The serial key that you bought D/S4.0 with is the one that activates Pro with the Decimator plugin.

    The serial key that everybody got who bought for free D/S4.x does not activate the Decimator plugin.

    Hmm, just tried the 4.0 Pro key and restarted the app and still asks for the Decimator key!

    If on a W7 type system, right-click on desktop icon for program and "run as admin", enter $ key ....

    If that doesn't work, might have to take note of the order # and contact CS for help.

    The listing I have in the Product library for 4.0 goes to 4.6 as the download. So presumably IF Decimator still works in D/S, the same key should be working.

    Well that worked but believe it or not it was the DAZ Studio 4 PRO Upgrade serial that was the key! Weird.

    You purchased the DS4 Pro upgrade which is why you have both a key and a working version of Deciamator.

    The only two ways you have Deciamator beyond the 30 day trial is if you purchased it as a separate plugin for DS3 or 4 or if you puchased DS4 Pro or it's upgrade back when DS4 was first released.

    Deciamtor is the one plugin that is not free with the non-pay version of DS4 Pro. This is due to license agreements between DAZ and the plugin creators.

    You have to enter the DS4 Pro serial into the box for Decimator when it asks as far as I can recall.

    Yea, LG..... it was a real bummer, totally. I'm being allot more adamant with backups now. In fact I'm getting my "2D $ 3D Apps" folder backed up right now after getting most of the 2D apps installed. Working with a program that was given to me years ago (a pirated copy) and fell in love with it. Last year I bought the full version since it's been so upgraded and works perfectly with Win 7 & 8 it was worth the money. It's called Beyond Compare. I haven't found a backup solution I like so this works very well for me.

    Also if you bought AniMate2 and the full Dynamic Clothing plugin, those need to have their serial keys input as those are the 2 that stop working after the 30 day trial bit is over.

    I don't recall checking it at the time but don't recall Decimator ever working on my copy.

    Decimator dates back to DS3 and 3A. It was included in for pay version of DS4 Pro. If you purchased DS4 Pro, you DS4 Pro serial will unlock Decimator. If you have the free version, the serial won't unlock it. Previous versions of DS gave users a 30 day trial of all the bells and whistles to show encourage them to buy the advanced versions (this was especially true when DAZ introduced DS3 Advanced).

    Since DAZ never went with their original 5 tier plan, plugins may not have the old 30 day trial.
