Okay, continuing the theme of showing off new stuff, here is Boyd wearing Maxx's swimwear Bikini. Looks great! And, I didn't do any tweaking to fit it over the gens. WIN WIN

MAXX has great promo images. Did you see the fantastic video? I expected a price twice as high.

I haven't seen the video. Is it linked to the product page?

It is in the commercial thread.

excellent. Thats amazing and great promotion. What talent. =-)

Here's the thong. The back looks great too, but, you'll have to take my word on it! This too fits nicely over the gens. You have to add a smoothing modifier. There was only one small place, I had to fix, and I probably could've done it by rearranging his antatomical elements.

I think this is easily my favorite set of men's swimewear. This and the really cute shorts in Blue Rabbit's Summer Time outfit. These look awesome.

Here's Maxx' skin applied to Boyd. It looks pretty fantastic. It does appear to erase eyelashes though, oddly. So you'll have to go in add add some lashes. The skin has a lot of great details and beautiful freckling along the nose and cheeks.

I will add the lashes back in the next go around. I didn't notice it until now.

This would make a nice beach boy/surfer type skin.

yeah, that does look to be a very labor intensive skin material set.

I seem to have done something weird with him. I wanted to do give him eye lashes and do a close up, and now his color has changed radically. Same light, and all. I think something went weird weird with his skin mats. I wil reload when I applied eyelash color. bummer.... Oh why do mats have to alter things they aren't applied to?

Hmm. May not be the eyelashes but the eye moisture shaders. Will experiment more

He comes with his own fibermesh eyelashes, so any of the lash materials will affect the hair on him and not the transmapped lashes that come with G8M. The lashes disappeared likely because the Cutout Opacity was turned to 0 with the preset. You'll either need to load his fibermesh lashes on, or use lash mats from another character.

Thanks ChangelingChick. Yeah, the original mats hide the eyelashes, butI just applied Michael 8's eyelash shader, and they came back.

Hmm. Has anyone had trouble with the wet skin option? Some characters it works, others, it seems to create  red limbs. I'm assuming its the original texture which has a setting that the shader isn't working well with it... For example Owen's skin is fine, but Boyd Gets red face and arms.

This is a test of the new light set PTF Neon Splash Lighting Suite

I'm a fan of bright unusual lighting and this is the scene out of the box. I applied shaders to Owen's hair and skin which were included in the set.

The mini environment is Killzones The Bath, which is just the right size to make a good render. This rendered quite quickly and looks really good for edgy moody lighting. (hey what do you expect in a bathroom that is also a killzone).

  • I just tried Maxx's wet skin on a couple of different textures; Christian, RY Kian and Archie from Rendo, and they all worked fine. No red limbs or face. Did you make sure you Used the "apply first Maxx wet Base" on Boyd?

Ah thank you!  has been a very interesting conversation, and helped me discover a mystery. For the longest time, I've noticed Boyd's arms are very slightly different color in certain lighting.

I have gone in and applied the original skin, but the texture stayed that way.

Oddly, just now I  have to load the original character with his skin, the and that renders fine, so something has gone wonky with Boyd' arms over time. I am wondering if it was the after effects of applying textures with hair like arm and facial hair.

In any case, the original skin seems to have helped remove the weird red arms and head, and head when applying the wet skin shader.

  • Oh that's super weird. But I'm glad you figured it out.

I have found that some presets are additive to surfaces and not actually replacing all the settings and images in the surfaces tab when you apply them. I've done that unknowingly with presets I've saved.

Those suits do look great, and that is the set of freckles that most resembles the real people I know with freckles, ie, a sprinkling on the nose, cheeks and upper arms.Looks good on Boyd too-but what doesn't?

If I wanted Boyd to have a more 'regular guy' look, thats the skin I would certainly use. It looks really real and I like all the details. I Tried it on Owen, but Owen with freckles.... Is.... A totally different look!

Here's a tweaked version of the pose. I used the freebie Snowcone made by Mal3Imagery for me  (Which totally rocks) and the fatbike.

I found there really was no detailed small promenade to use for the beach, and I really like stonemason's stuff, so I used the museum from urban future by stonemason, which has the best structure, and just made the building itself opaque. I think I'm going to do that more.

Stonemason's content is topnotch, why bother with other sets.

That is great - but that Seagull would be going for the snowcone - they are a menace smiley

Nothing wrong with the Stonemason set but there is

yeah. I like the by the seaside set, but I rarely use it, because it loads all in a jumble without mats applied. I don't have the energy to construct it to look good...

Have you loaded that puppy? Its a confusing mess to me. I desperately want a preset that puts it all in context like the promos, but when I load items, things all load at zero, making it difficult to figure out. Then when you apply the mats, its all 3dl, and must be converted over, and there are these swathes of light gray mat that look really undetailed...

Then there is this: https://www.daz3d.com/the-boardwalk-promenade-and-props ; which seems like the exact same set?

    Very confused.

Interesting! I own the first set, but not the second one you found that matches it.

The boardwalk one loads with decent mats but it’s all still at zero. Then there are all those huts here: https://www.daz3d.com/the-boardwalk-beach-huts

If any set needed some Daz love it is these two. They need a bundle and a preset... very confusing.

I think they are linked, I have the catagorised together. I hadn't rendered it for a while, and I agree applying the mats can be a pain - but they were doing that with clothes for a while too. Just loaded it and converted to Iray and noticed the tiling, so I think a shader would be needed. But the steps down might make an interesting story point. I can see you boys on the bike going over those humps ;-) I think it would have been better in smaller chunks that you could build your own promenade. I have used the props from it in other renders by themselves.

That is just a texture set for the first one . If you have the time just load it up arrange it the way you want  and save as a scene subset ,so it is ready the next time you want it .
