This post is a test of Bitchute, to see if it can post a video to the forum. I'm first trying to post a code snippit.
Plan to test other platforms as well. Youtube is not an option.

Trying again. Edit - This seems to be the best I can do. Had to edit the code a bit. Won't post to the forum window, but the link is direct. This is just an old Nat Cole song. I want to link to my own video. It may turn out that uploading a video is harder than creating it. :)
it's funny but Vimeo annoyed me limiting me to only a few videos unless I paid up,
Youtube is totally free and I have well over a thousand videos
hell could even monetise them if I wished

I set aside my online animation efforts after youtube gave me a site-content-warning for doing a test of Fluidos in a fountain. At some point I will be giving it all another go.
Daily Motion trial. Pretty much the same deal. WIth edits, I can get the link to directly open to the full video, but the video itself will not embed in the forum. That may not be a deal-breaker. Probably better to give up the idea of embedding here and focus instead on which service fits my (modest) needs, as they all seem to work here about the same.

I think that they both look good. The biggest difference is that the Carrara render is WAY brighter. For that reason, I kinda like the octane better.
Here is my take so far on video hosting sites.
1. Youtube is not an option for me. Google has immense power, and it is run by people with a radical agenda. Pass
2. Bitchute is kind of like the wild west. It is supposed to be a conservative alternative to youtube. However, the front page typically contains the most extreme off-putting stuff imaginable, so it will likely keep a lot of people away. Despite that, I found it very easy to upload and manage videos. Unfortunately, the video quality is sub par. Pass
3. Rumble is another conservative alternative. It is way more mainstream than Bitchute, and growing rapidly. The FAQ offers little technical imformation, and is instead largely devoted to how to make money on your videos. In fact, the main point of Rumble appears to be making money. They even offer to do all of your marketing for you, for a piece of the pie. If money is your aim, it may be the best site for you. But the constant money drumbeat can get tiring. Plus, they had a second layer of verification they required in order to join. When I objected, they wouldn't budge. Pass
4. Daily Motion is based in France. It is the 2nd largest video sharing service behind Youtube. I found the registration questions they asked to be intrusive. Pass.
5. LBRY, as opposed to Rumble, has a very detailed FAQ. Plus, they really seem like they want you to join. I had to convert my video to a different format to upload, but it wasn't a big deal. The resulting quality was still good. My main objection is the cryptocurrency thing. I've never been a fan. Part of their plan is for you to build your assets by clicking on other people's videos. It reminds me somewhat of multilevel marketing, which I rejected long ago. They do make it plain that you can choose to not participate in their schemes, and instead simply use them to host your videos. I remain on the fence. SciFiFunk likes LBRY, so that is a point in its favor.
6. Vimeo has good quality, robust features, and a very easy registration process. I can't find any way to cause a link to automatically open full screen on the Carrara forum (only Youtube seems granted this privilage), but that just means the viewer has to do it. For my simple needs, Vimeo seems the winner so far.
my only issue with Vimeo is it's not free and I don't like spending money if I can do something free
we can at least view Vimeo videos free if the uploader allows it
I do watch Vimeo links and if on PC fave them as my autofill will sign me in

Steve and Diomede, glad the information was useful. The video reviews were all filtered through my bias, and you may come to different conclusions in your direct experience.
Vimeo does seem to be more "artsy" oriented than the others, without being overly polically correct. A tough balance to maintain these days!
