LuxRender is certainly not an easy render engine to come to grips with. Ubiased, physically accurate rendering is a resource expensive business, but there are a lot of people doing fantastic things with it.

I just wrapped up and posted an interview with Jean Dugas, a guy who is putting together a hugely ambitious project with LuxRender. He is bringing his novel series, MechaNation to life with DAZ Studio, LuxRender and Reality 2. Stop by and read the interview, check out the teaser trailer (sort of a proof of concept tech demo).

What's the biggest project you know about that has been, or is being produced with LuxRender?

Good stuff. Lux does deliver great images.

Certainly does. It isn't on the list of render engines that I'd consider for animation, which is why I was so interested in the project.
