I see there is a clone figure for using genesis 2 clothing on genesis, but how does genesis clothing work on genesis2..does autofit work or is there a clone for that too?

Autofit works well on everything but long dresses; the Genesis clone for G2F is free with G2F, basically.

So I understand I need nothing to use Genesis clothing on G2 other than autofit, including shoes and boots, exception long dresses which the dress rig will take care of, but if I want to go backwards G2 To G1 I would need the G2 Female Clone?

Hi Sickle, this was the only thread I could find on this. I only just realised that you had released the gen2f clone for genesis. Thank you for doing this and I'm sorry I didn't see it sooner...Pen

You're welcome! :-) I hope it works well for you.I'm sure it will...: )
I have tried to apply Genesis clothing to G2 figures but nothing happens when I double-click on the item, regardless of what is selected on the figure. Dragging also doesn't work. It works fine on Genesis figures, and G2 clothing works fine on G2 figures, but is there a special thing I need to do to get Genesis cloths to actually apply to G2 figures?

Right-click and fit to and choose the figure. Go through the autofit prompt.
Will the Sickle Dress Rig Genesis for Genesis 2 female work on Genesis 2 male? I want to fit the short order cook apron on G2M, but it gets a crease down the middle.

Why would clothing require custom bones? Does it have something to do with how clothing drapes over the base figure?
Yes. Sometimes skirts bend better with custom handles than just glued to the thighs and shins, and sometimes sleeves or other items need to hang or drape in a way that just sticking to the arm doesn't represent accurately.
I accidently deleted my Genesis clone for G2F. I use it a lot, so is there any way of getting it back or re-downloading it?
Thank you for your help.
Yes. You can manually download and install from your product library or If you installed it via DIM I believe you would have to first go to the installed path and tell it to uninstall from there (if it still shows). Then you should be have the link to redownload it appear again under available downloads (this is operating under the assumption that you accidentally deleted it within D|S itself)

Thank you for the fast reply!
In the meantime I have installed the G2F essentials pack again through the install manager and it workd! I didn't know about deleting the file first, but your technique will come in handy, should I make this mistake again.

If you want to do long dresses, I have a product for that here. http://www.daz3d.com/sickle-dress-rig-genesis-2-female

Do morphs carry over when transferring clothes from G1 to G2?
Morphs do. Custom bones don't without some Transfer Utility dance. Here's a tutorial I did for that a while back:

No, they're different figures. The male product is this: http://www.daz3d.com/sickle-tunic-rig-genesis-2-male
The G2M Tunic rig worked wonders. Thanks a million!
I'm so glad it worked for you!
Your are just so awesome. We are lucky to have you making stuff of DAZ studio.
Aww. :D

A couple of questions about this:
1. How do we know whether a skirt has custom bones/handles?
2. The turorial describes G2F -> Genesis. Would it work for transfers from Genesis clothing to G2F?
Thanks in advance.
