How similar is Hexagon to Blender?

I use Blender. Are there any other people here who could help me? I am trying to build a polygon wig for the Genesis 8 Male that I imported to Blender. Having trouble using specular and bump maps or anything else like that with the transparent background texture of some hair clumps that I painted. I used the transparent background so I could get a more realistic edge to the hair rather than just having a hard straight line.

Any ideas would be great.
