Hi.
I have Carrara 8.5 and i'm completely lost regarding some aspects of the software.
Like DazStudio, i don't understand where some files are supposed to be installed.
Where can i find mimic inside Carrara?
It suports Genesis, do i have to install it? do i use the genesis essentials from DazStudio?
It also tells me that i have to install DazStudio to access the smart content, does it include Genesis?
Thank you

carrara needs a seperate mimic plugin
but you can with Genesis at least save a lipsync .duf scene in DS4.6 32bit of Genesis and open it in Carrara with keyframed lipsync.
The advantage of the Carrara mimic plugin is if you model Carrara native stuff in the vertex room, you can create morph targets, save NLA poses and use a .wav file to generate lipsync and of course use other Daz figures.
The later (other Daz figures) can also be used with Mimic pro and lite pz2 files like one would in Poser if you have that and do not wish to buy the plugin.
and yes you must install Daz studio 4.6 & the Genesis starter essentials.
you do not need to use Daz studio afterwards and can if desired uninstall it but it is useful to have as a Carrara plugin and makes saving unique uv combinations to use in Carrara possibe (ie different uv mapping on body parts that only studio can do).
Thank you for the answer.
But just one more thing, i installed studio and genesis, and carrara recognized htem. But if unistall studio, wont genesis desappear from carrara too? Or i only needed to install studio so that the content folders appears in the documents folder, so i can be able to install my figures? Is not possible to instal genesis and victoria 5, 6 or michael 5 in carrara directly, right?
well basically studio sets up the runtime structure that Carrara then recognizes
Poser does the same thing.
Uninstalling studio does not touch the content folders.
while it is not necessary I would recomend leaving studio installed unless you have an execptionally small main drive! and really need all the space you can get!
(and that is exactly what I do indeed do on my crappy old Vista laptop where can I plug my external with all my Daz content into it for Carrara if needed)
Thank you for the answer. It really helped :)
