I'm trying to make a portrait curved plane we see in a lot of really great portraits but I'm having difficulty.
Something that looks like this:

Any ideas? I think its done with a plane and dform but I can't find the right settings.

You might be able to do something like this with weight maps and subdivision, but the easiest way to do this would be with a 3D modelling program like Hexagon (about 20 bucks here at DAZ3D), or Wings3D (free and easy to use). You could actually render inside a cylinder, that should work for most portrait situations.
Make sure you plane has enough divisions (in the Create New Primitive dialogue) for the DForm to be able to bend it, adjust the DForm's field so it encloses the part of the plane you want to bend (and stretch it out across the width of the plane so that it affects the whole thing evenly - you can use the Adjust Spline button in the DForm pane to alter how the effect comes in), put the base at the top of the bend zone (that's where the hinge pijt will be) and then select the actual DForm, which is a child of the base, and rotate it.
That looks great! Could you describe what settings you used to create that? I'm not experienced with dform :)
Thanks so much for the help.
I always forget about these tools. I just don't use them in DS.
I know this thread is not from now... but I really have to thank you for the link!!
It's a great tutorial and it just saved my night!! :)
