Does Daz or Poser (9) do a better job (than Poser) of getting a face to look like a particular perso

Been using Poser 9 but would like to try DAZ now as I find Poser's interface to be clunky.
I would like to know if anyone has experience recreating a celebrity's
likeness, specifically the face, in DAZ and if DAZ does a better job (and easier to achieve) than Poser?

I don't really have any experience, but I think that the model would be more important than the program.
If you're trying to get the mesh into a certain shape and the models built in morphs don't go that way, there's nothing you can do (in poser or DS) you have to go to a modeling program and do a custom morph.
I've done it in DAZ Studio (assuming you consider Poe a celebrity, that is). As I see it, there are three main methods:
1. Use a modeling program to make a custom morph. Neither Poser nor DAZ Studio is a modeling program. You could use Hexagon, Carrara, Blender, ZBrush, etc.
2. Use morph dials to morph the figure's shape into something that appromixates the celebrity's appearance. That's what I did. The more morphs you have access to, the better.
3. Use d-formers to bend the figure's mesh. This can be done in DAZ Studio (I don't think Poser has the same function, but it may have something similar involving magnets I think). I haven't heard of anyone creating a celebrity face this way. It probably could be done, but I suspect most would find the other methods to be preferable.
You could also combine two or three of those methods...for instance, combine a custom morph you made (in a modeling program or with d-formers) with other free or purchased morphs.
I don't personally have experience using Poser. My understanding is that some prefer Poser's interface and others prefer DAZ Studio's, but probably neither would really do a "better job" at this task than the other.
For more examples from other DS users, see several of the contest entries here: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/23099/
V3 had a set of REALLY detailed morphs called Face Sculpting. I don't recall ever seeing anyone use them for a character and wouldn't expect anything similar for V4 or Genesis. I think doing a custom morph in a 3d program may actually be easier than this set.
Once you have your morphs, some 3d programs like z-brush or blacksmith3d will help make the textures from photos.
Genesis has the Face Resource Kits 1 thru 4. And all the figure morphs. I can build anything with the collection I have. I have well over 16 full pages of just single dial face morphs alone for genesis.
Can you do a narrow face with a wide smile. This is a pet peeve of mine concerning V3 and V4. All the smile morphs for these models are made for the default face and look OK. Unfortunately, most pretty or glamorous faces are narrower than the default. The narrow face and the smile try to use the same morphs and the result is terrible.
I don't use Genesis, but I'm curious as to whether this has been addressed.
Poser has magnets which are like Studio's d-formers but with one extra feature, you can edit the fall-off graph of a magnet. That gives you a bit more control. I don't think you can do this with d-formers.
Some versions of Poser have what they call the Face Room but this only works properly with supported figures. I don't know if Poser 9 has this.
I have experimented with Faceshop. I got some fairly nice looking faces but they never came out looking like what I was trying for. Perhaps that was because I didn't spend enough time with the application.
I think you are right in saying neither program is better than the other. Its probably just a case of spending the time to learn how to use the application well.
P.S. I really like your Poe render, a very impressive bit of morphing.
Studio's D-former tab/pane, Edit Spline.
The Edit Spline button in the DForm pane gives access to the fall-off graph. What Poser can do that DS can't is use a user-defined group to limit a magnet's area of effect.
Thanks jetsmart and Richard for that tip. I hadn't realised that d-formers had a pane until you pointed it out. So far I've just created them using the create menu and adjusted them in the parameters tab.
