Rookie question about backgrounds/backdrops

I have loaded an evironement setting and want to add a background (.jpg).

The background is loaded way to far behind the setting and I can't figure out how to get them closer together.
I can of course move the setting backwards but that makes the setting very small. Whenever I try to move closer to the setting I only pull the setting towards me and therefore also pulling the setting away from the background.

So; is there anyway to control the distance between a setting and the background or anyway to make the background larger?

You mean an image loaded with Edit>Backdrop? No, it is a backdrop and will not change. You either need to make a copy of the image, crop it as you need, and load that or you need to apply the image to a plane with the Surfaces pane (set Ambient colour to white and strength to 100% so it isn't shaded by the lights) and position that plane as needed.

Definitely add the image to the surface of a primitive plane, that will give you plenty of control to place it exactly where you need it.
