Good day all :)

I did a complete new install of all things Daz, using DIM on my 32 bit machine. Downloaded to an external drive - kept all the files - and installed to the D:\ drive.

I am getting a brand-new 64 bit machine and will be able to copy the installed content to the new D:\ drive (or is it possible to get DIM to do this. Will need to install all applications, including DIM and Studio 64 bit.

Will I be able to get DIM to recognize that I already have all content, so that it won't all show up as "Ready to download" all over again?

I had to reinstall Windows 8. DIM recognized all downloaded content which I saved on my external HDD. All you need to do is to adjust the download path and DIM works like a charme.

I haven't tried this yet, and I forget the exact path/filenames, however somebody mentioned you will need to back up the manifest files that DIM uses to identify that it has already downloaded/installed products.

You can configure your download folder for the next time. :)

I think it puts all manifest-files "DSX" inside of the same folder. The other files are the zip-archives.

You'll need to copy over two directories and their contents. First, the current DIM download directory; this will eliminate the need to re-download.

Second - to allow the new DIM install to track currently installed items, copy C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\ManifestFiles. DIM combines elements of both the customer manifest (the .dsx file in the download directory) with the file manifest (the .dsx file IN the zip) and stores the result here when you do an install.

For files to be installed, you can just put them in the downloads folder. If you are copying the content folders and DON'T want DIM to reinstall, you need to copy the Manifests folder (in Win7 it's C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\ManifestFiles ) so that DIM will know the items are already installed.

Thank you all so much for the responses - very relieved to see that DIM is so well thought out :)
