  • There's also the possibility of using holographic shaders to make any creature look like it's part of an entertainment medium. Or even resizing it to the size of a toy held in a character's hands.

    Added this T-Rex to my collection. Made a quick render in vue and played a bit in photoshop)

    I'm really looking forward to Allosaurus!

    After communicating with Herschel I have created some template maps for the Beserker to start with for people to use. They are not 8K in size just ended up to big, But they are 4k they are usable. so I will post them in a zip format, they are in BMP format. Have Fun

    It depends on what you're using it for really. If you consider many of the customers purchase my dinosaurs to make very high resolution renders to sell in commercial works on image stock websites. I have been thanked for the 8K resolution for this exact purpose. For 3k x 3k pixels or less 4k would do just fine but once you start climbing far beyond that it s a very noticeable difference. For future products I will be releasing 4k and 2k textures though so they can be applied for smaller resolution images and background dinos.

    Also for those who haven't heard, the Tyrannosaurus Rex 2 model (Alpha variant) was used on the front of the "Jurassic Games" dvd cover along with many of my other dinos. Check it out!

    just so you know I did the 4k versions only because well, (not bragging) most people do not have the same level of machine I have. mine was actually given to me by a california company. I used to work for, my machine, is heavy on ram and video cards linked together. I downloaded the pixar give away a while back and well it loaded and rendered nicely on this machine. So 8k versions, yes I did experience some slowing when I rendered 20 Trexes in one scene with complete (Hollywood complete) forest. And I do agree that if you wanted to do a game cover or even a movie section, or an illustration of These dino's doing something. I did two for a freind of mine displaying Trex love, and well a newly discovered (not really new) idea that the arms of the rex was not so usless after all. In fact they the ones that i was sent, pictures not real arms, had typical preditory stress fractures. Indicitve of what happens when an animal is holding onto its prey before it is dead. Horner is gonna get real mad at me again......angel. So with all that said if anyone wants the 8k versions then by all means let me know and I will give them to you.

    Again thanks Herschel for some great resourses to work with, i still hold to what I said in my message about the other Dinos. would like to see some more too.

    You have to import any Daz models into Unreal Engine 4 which is easy if you're familiar with setting up materials and working with fbx's.

    Edit: Unreal Engine 4 is free by the way.

    I spent one day studying unreal engine and I liked the result of this editor. My question is, is there a way to export stuff to the unreal engine with the fbx model? Or do you need to configure everything manually? I will be glad if you share the settings of your materials. Thanks!
    P S: sorry for my bad English.

  • 1.) I export the model (say a posed Rex) from Daz as an OBJ and import it into Zbrush.

    2.) then (inside zbrush) polygroup the model based on UV islands the merge polygroups that belong to the same UV map.

    3.) Then I export from Zbrush as a FBX using polygroups as material zones.

    4.) Then import the fbx into Unreal and set up a material for each material zone (UV map) of the model. Drag and drop the material onto the correct material zone of the model (in the model editor).

    I only need to set up materials once for each dinosaur, however for every pose you will need to go through steps 1-3 each time. I haven't tried exporting the rig but it may be possible.

  • Another great product by the looks of it, and I'm very excited to hear of the upcoming dinos!

    I was wondering if there was any chance you might revisit the Dakotaraptor for a texture and/or plumage expansion? Its such a fantastic model, I'd really love to see it get some love; such as some striking skin options,or  further plumage styles, I like what David Silva's done with the raptors in his 'Beasts of the Mesozoic' range of 1/6 dino-figures for example, particularly the Gyrfalcon style plumage on the Dromeosaurus.  

    Just a thought!   :)
