Please call it WW1 rather than the Great War.

Hmmm.  For DS, Carrara, or Poser?

As a Commonwealth Military re-enactor I couldn't agree more, definately the tanks - those things were so cool (broke down a lot though, heheheh) Rhomodials, and the iconic Renault FT 17 two "person" tank, this could actually be a whole cottage industry for some clever person.  Hope they produce the stuff that would be special. Cheers :)

  • yes been after a good WWI British uniform for ages (and other nationalities would be good)
There are a few tanks about. I just did an image of a WW1 British tank and a German one. quite happy with the result.
The German one was a Sketchup model I exported and added more details.

Check Rendo. Tigers, Shermans, Stug, Ranman38 has the most accurate ones I've found, with lots of movements.
They're for Poser, but work well in DAZ.
Also, ShareGC has many more obscure types, such as the 38t and the FT-17 and such. Many are only good for distance shots, though.

I'm working on some uniforms now, including WWI. Would you be more likely to use M4 (compatible with Poser as well as DAZ), or G8?

Personnaly I only use DAZ Studio and not poser so G8 or even  G3 as would be best. Probbaly be able to fit G3  to G8 as well.

    G8, without a doubt.

M4/V4 were great, in their day, but that day is long past, even if they still have a following.

Someone needs to make a render of a bunch of M4/V4 figures boarding white boats to sail off to the west... heh

I would love to do more WW1 planes cause I had a lot of fun making it and I love WW1 planes for their look, but looks like people forgot to buy it ... ;)

  • I could go for some more environments from the Great War.

I got it, and I'd be very happy to see another one. It was especially nice to see a properly done "lozenge" camouflage pattern — too many times I've seen it left out, or not done right, but as far as I can tell this one's good.

There are so many other distinctive plane types in the WW1 era, I hardly know what to wish for next — maybe a Camel, or an SE5, or a Pup, Nieuport, 1½ Strutter, or...?

Slightly OT: @Eagle99 one good place to highlight your products is in the 'Daz PA Commercial Products' forum. More people will take notice of it there (and maybe posting images in the galleries at Rendo - any publicity, right?).

Thanks... Glad you like it. smiley I would love to do them all. The lozenge camo was not that easy. There are just a few remains of these fighters that survived the war, so a lot of illustrations you get are based on speculations how the colors might have been. The pictures are all B/W of course. Also they not all were the same of course (different patterns, colors, no of colors) . I found some good reference pictures on a page where some people did a replica of an Albatros. So I decided to do it the way they did. I just checked... I have more than 300 reference pictures for the Albatros.... hehe.

The Sopwith Camel would be great... very iconic. Also the Nieuports.... 17 or 28... beautiful airplanes. The Albatros definitely needs some enemies... wink

@dragonfly_2004 : From what I've heard from other PA's,  the Commercial Product threads don't really have an impact on sales. Only a low percentage of the customers really use the forum. Rendo didn't manage to rename my account from my real name to my PA name so far, so ... . I often post some images in the gallery here on release. But maybe I should "spam" it a bit more, yes. The main reason it's not a best seller is probably the narrow range it can be used. Contemporary stuff that "can be used in every render" just sells better. But, yes I need something for my self-marketing anyway soon ...  Artstation might be a good place.

MEA CULPA! I actually found the albatros very beautiful and admired it for a long time.... After a check if there are good articles to combine with this beautiful airplane - I admit I just clicked "wishlist" instead of "buy".

Unfortunately, it's often the problem with the Daz3d marketplace - wonderful aircraft but not even a dirty mechanic combo in G8 or G3......

I encourage the Daz3D artists creating planes, tanks etc to have a look at the work of Diorama scale model artists - there you get a good impression what it takes to give your masterpiece the environment it deserves!

No offense, thank you for the good work - I will definitely buy the plane as soon as I can get a sufficiently dirty mechanic and a spiked helmet in G8 G3.  ;-

Does not take much..... as DIORAMA artists show!

It wasn't for recent Genesis generations, but there used to be a set of bikers' helmet props in the store, including a nice spiky pickelhaube. Can't find it now; either it's been retired from the store, or my search-fu is weak (again).

But, but, .... there is the Pink Baroness... laugh

And Jules (https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-vernea-fae-outfit-for-genesis-8-females) also fits very well into the plane .. wink

At least for some fun renders...

The retro aviator outfit (https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-retro-aviator-outfit-for-genesis-8-males) works somehow as a pilot outfit for it. It's obviously not correct but there also was no standard uniform for the german pilots. You see different kinds on the old photos. Some with a kind of overall, but most times with uniforms.

I initially wanted to create a promo with some kind of german pilot like Manfred von Richthofen, so I grabbed and old uniform set (https://www.daz3d.com/uniforms-for-michael-6) from the shop. But it needed a lot of tweaking to look at least a little bit like it. I finally skipped it at the end. Not even looking for a mechanic...

Yep, it's so frustrating (for me) on this really wonderful platform. Several lovely aircraft but not a single acceptable mechanic outfit to go with it.... we even have a WW1 trench now ... and not a single uniform that would fit! A tiger tank but no german uniform .... An F16, an AV8, even an A10 but no G3 G8 flight suit with helmet and breathing mask - although a outdated M?? actually shows how to do it. I think that's a pity for the artists because the market neutralizes itself with these flaws..... no offense, just saying.

A big thank you to the artists for the great work.
