Do I need to uninstall DS 4.5 before installing DS 4.6?

I found a tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlTca7F3PZ8, but it is not consistent with the version of Install manager I downloaded today so I can't follow it. For example, under the "ready to install" tab, I don't have an "install to where option". Is there an update version of this video somewhere?

The "Show Details" button at the bottom right of the Install tab gives the install options.

You might want to uninstall DS4.5 in case you didn't use the default locations.

How long is this supposed to take? The 64 bit version finished long ago.

    Still loading. Is this normal?

I've seen this happen infrequently on Windows, when something interferes with the final step of creating shortcuts. You may have to kill the Install Manager -- when you restart it, it will probably show the install as completed and DS will work fine.

That's what happened but now it acts like something is missing. On opening I get this.

When trying to load M5 Heroic it seems I have no Genesis base.

Install Genesis Starter Essentials if you haven't yet, then in DS go to Edit > Preferences > Startup and change the startup scene to Genesis.duf in the same location.

Genesis Essentials seems to be installed. I think I have the start up working.

However M5 still gets the error message.

Go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager. You need to have Users/Shared/My DAZ 3D Library listed under both "DAZ Studio Formats" and "Poser Formats". On a clean install that folder would be added automatically, but on an upgrade it keeps your previous settings.

It switched successfully, however I seemed to have lost the M5 content and gained other content. Does this mean I have to migrate all of my old content, uninstalling and reinstalling etc.?

You can keep both paths if you don't want to have to reinstall everything. You can reinstall things a little at a time to make sure you've got any updates.
