Can I fix this or I’m out of Luck?

I have a number of vehicles that I got when I was using Poser 7 & they work great; I really would love to be able to use them in Daz Studio 4.6 Pro. However when I operate their parts like open the doors I got strange effects, I’m wondering if it is possible correct the strange effects.

Mainly the strange effect is the mesh stretches from opened edge of the door to the body of the vehicle.

I think these pictures can explain better than I can…

(The light background is Poser 7, the darker background is Daz Studio 4.6 Pro and the Vans are the same just loaded & doors openned)

Thanks,

It may be that they were saved welded, relying on Poser to unweld them. If you have a modeller (I think Hexagon will work, though make a copy of the original OBJ first) select the doors etc. (you should be able to select by group or by material/shading domain, with luck), cut, then paste to place them back in the mesh but no longer welded. See if that fixes the issue with one of them, as a trial.

    Richard,

I hear what you're saying I'm fairly handy with Hexagon as far as modeling goes but the UV-mapping & the ERC side of things I make newbie look like a pro. However I'll see what happens.

Someone posted a similar problem a few weeks ago. They contacted the vendor and got updates to the vehicles, which then worked fine in DAZ Studio.

You shouldn't need to do any rigging - if you save a copy of the OBJ you can save the modified version over the top of the original and the CR2 file will load it. Any actual morphs would be broken, but vehicle models rarely have morphs anyway (things like master controls to spit the wheels, or to turn the steering wheel and steerable wheels together, won't be affected). I don't think cut-and-paste will break UV mapping in Hexagon, but I'm not certain of that (so it's definitely one of the things you should check before doing more than one model).

None of these may be needed if you change the subdivision method to Catmark (Legacy). Should solve the issue
