Hiding multiple objects

Hey there,

Is there a way to select a bunch of objects and hit one button to hide them all?
At the moment, if I want to hide the background, I have to run through every object in the background ticking off the eye icon in the scene tab.

Ticking off the parent eye, doesn't hide all the children as well.

My scene is running quite slow, and it'll be great if I could toggle the background animation off when animating, then quickly back on when building a preview.

Thanks lots

Guy

Use the new Group function. Select everything you want in the background group then Create / New Group, give it a name and check 'Parent Selected Items(s) to New Group' (if you don't see the check boxes expand using 'Show Options' button).

You can also just select them and use the Visible button in the Parameters pane, under the Display group.

Richard, as of some recent release (can't remember which exactly) this doesn't seem to work. Am I missing something?

Mainly, I want to hide multiple body parts so I can see only the mouth, for example. I know I can set opacity to zero in surface tab, but I've always liked the parameter tab method better.

You mean the visible button doesn't change the item, or multi-selection doesn't work? The property settings works for me, but if you have the wrong combination of options set in the Parameter pane option menu it will no affect multi-selections - if you have Display Separate Items on you need to have Consolidate Properties off.

That did it for me, Richard. Thank you. Once I turned off "Display Separate Items" it worked.
