Importing .obj and .mtl into DAZ

I got this awesome freebie: http://www.sharecg.com/v/66942/gallery/5/3D-Model/Shattered-Glass
What I did is, I placed it in a sepperate map and then imported it with right-click " other import formats.
The maker placed the items like this in the folders:
*folder* shattered glass
in there are all the .obj files and the .mtl files and also a folder with all the JPG files for a preview for each item.

What I can't seemed to get is to make those jpg.'s clickable and make them import the .obj that goes with it.
Aside from that, even when I click on one of the .obj files I don't see anything appear on the stage, but according to my scene tab the item should be there.
I have been shifting the folders and files but nothing happens like I want it to.

It's giving me a headache...anyone has any clue what I can do to make it work?

You would have to turn them into props and then use the Jpg at the right size as a click on thumb in the library. I think it needs to be converted to PNG as well to do that.

Not sure how you turn then into props in DS, but in poser it is simply a matter of saving them into an empty library folder.

    1. Import OBJ into DS.
    2. File > Save As > Support Asset > Figure/Prop
    3. Pull JPEG into an image editor and resize to 91x91
    4. Save image to same folder as prop as Nameofprop.png (change nameofprop to what you named the prop).

Refresh your library so the folder/new prop shows up and you'll have a clickable image with a loadable DS prop.

So actually not too different to how I would do it for Poser, only in Poser the thumbnalis have to be png for some reason.

Whoops, so does DS. Changed my post.

Although I've seen them named as both Nameofprop.png and Nameofprop.duf.png. Not sure why some have one versus the other.

Nothing will happen no matter how you shuffle the folders. What's happening, most likely, is that they're importing too small to see in the Viewport. When you import an .obj file you get various options, one of which is the scale it's supposed to be imported at. I've tried a few of these so far, and they don't all seem to be the same — one imported at a good size with the Maya(obj) preset, one was just a flyspeck until I used the Lightwave preset. You'll have to experiment and see what works best, it probably will not be the same preset for all of them.

A very nice prop set, though, I particularly like the way some of them have the broken glass pane and the network of cracks as separate .obj files, so you've got a bit of flexibility if you know how to play around in a modelling program. I'll have to try them out with a Luxus glass material and see what they look like. Thanks for pointing them out to us.
