Great animation, but not surprising, the National Film Board of Canada has long been supportive of the art. I have a video collection somewhere that is some of the best 2D animation I've ever seen.

Another is "The Triplets of Belleville", 7.7 at IMDB. Roger Ebert: "To call it weird would be a cowardly evasion. It is creepy, eccentric, eerie, flaky, freaky, funky, grotesque, inscrutable, kinky, kooky, magical, oddball, spooky, uncanny, uncouth and unearthly. Especially uncouth."

It includes this French waiter's walk:

Indeed. Some of the best 2D animators are actually artists. (Unlike myself, a wannabe 3D short animation director.) Here is a stunning example, an Oscar winner that the NY Times described as " ... a tour de force that compresses the history of modern art into seven minutres ..." :

(... sort of on topic, there is certainly art and some walking. I think.)

If you're into 2D, one of the Disney Nine Old Men, Milt Kahl, was a master of walk cycles.

In this you tube clip some reuses of his Sheriff of Nottingham walk cycles.

This clip from 101 Dalmatians contains some caricatured walks

In his book The Animator's Survival Kit, 2D veteran Richard Williams (of
Roger Rabbit fame) spends a lot of pages on doing walk variations, may
    be worth checking out.

Doing good walks takes a lot of practice, there's a lot of things you need to know.
(Lead animation in the hip, when to shift the body weight, when to catch the body
weight, where to put the feet, the main poses (The contact, the passing position)
delaying and dragging body parts using the principle of overlapping action,
applying the bouncing ball spacing for suggesting weight, etc. Without solid
knowledge of the mechanics of a walk, it is hard to do the variations

BVH files can be edited to create new styles from any walk with most of the free use editors. AniBlocks from GoFigure or other Aniblock suppliers can be edited in AniMate2 and saved as new styles. KeyMate and GraphMate can be used on the DAZ Studio Timeline to edit any walk which could then be saved as a new version. I'm a New user to Poser and Carrara but I'm sure those also have editing tools. So we can have different styles with some work on our part.

That said, I too would just like a load and use set or sets without needing to do any of the above in any of the above programs.

i just tried to do some animations again with only aniblocks : i forgot about the mess with ist
rotation issues. the fun goes away quick.
dont know why Gofigure didnt ment that long time ago
and no i dont want Workarounds
i like to use animate2 though and working especially with graphmate
@jaderail you think working with Carraraanimation has a better workflow?

Yes, very clever, my kind of stuff. Maybe this is where Blue Man Group got their inspiration.

Maybe more impressive for two man small sailboat racers, typical dialogue:

    "Ready about!"
    "Ready!"
    "Helm's alee!"
    (Loud flapping sail noises)
    "Ooops."
    (Sound of crew hitting water)
    (Louder flapping sail noises)
    "Woaaah!"
    (Dirty words from skipper)
(Sound of mast settling into water, then into mud)
(Sound of motor on rescue boat)
    ...

I've only had Carrara from the time of the New version and big sale, and Poser just before that. I'm still way to noob in both to make any comments on them as yet. I do plan to use all three programs DS, Rara and Poser for animation and use the strengths of each to better my as yet still WIP stuff as I learn them all better. I'm okay in DS so far with all the new tools like KM and GM but still testing things and trying things as I go in all three.
