Classic SciFi Pulp Magazine Covers - Sources of Inspiration

This NYTimes article pays homage to the great illustrators who did covers for pulp magazines like "Astounding Science Fiction" back in the mid 20th century.  At the time, science fiction was not considered "literature" but something closer to comic books.  But authors like Heinlein, Bradbury and especially (for me) Isaac Asimov brought respectability to the genre.  Rod Serling, the genius behind "The Twilight Zone", had written some great dramas before that, e.g. "Requiem for a Heavyweight" for Playhouse 90, a popular TV series.  After the takeoff of Twilight Zone, an interviewer asked Mr. Serling if he would be getting back to serious writing.

But hats off to the illustrators, who still inspire me, along with the great modelers who provide retro scifi props and figures to work with.
