Well, believe it or not, the figure in Poser is a different shape than the exact same figure in DAZ Studio. If I drape cloth on the DSON figure in Poser then export the cloth to DS, it won't fit the figure there.
Well, I solved they mystery of the invisible Genesis and it only took me 14 hours. To get the thing to show up in a render you have to go and select each and every body part, one by one, every part of every finger and everything else, and manually turn on "Visible in Render" and "Cast Shadows". Choosing those settings for the entire Genesis figure doesn't work.
So now I have to figure out how to get skin textures to apply correctly, and try and get the Auto Fit to work for it.
Strange. All I had to do was highlight Genesis and set it to ON on the base node.
For a quicker way of what you did though, right click the figure in the Scene tab > Expand > From Selection. Now shift click all of the nodes to select them all at once and then use the Visible in Render toggle. This will get them all at once if enabling it on the Genesis node itself doesn't work for you.
Okay, just so I don't lose all the work I did, how do I save it? There's a ton of "save as" options. I'm working on creating a character with Genesis in DS, and I want to save the character - which option do I chose so that I can close the program and reopen it and continue?
Thanks.
File > Save as > scene subset. When you want to load it, find the subset and right click > merge.
Normally you could just save the shape, but since yours is based on poser weight mapping, that won't work.
You've been a lot of help! I took your advice and I started all over with Genesis in DS and coppied all the dial settings from the Poser character, one by one. It should look exactly the same, but there are some differences, eventhough the settings came from the Genesis figure in Poser.
Is there some way I can now take this Genesis character and import it into Poser?

Yes. Follow these instructions from the previous page:
