Hi,
I just got an awesome new computer. It's got 8 gigs of RAM, uses Win 8, runs at 2.3 gigahertz, and it has an Nvidia Optimus.
Here's the problem: DAZ Studio doesn't work ;_; The program opens, but nothing on the 3D side will render! The whole 3D work area is white. I'm stumped. This program even worked too on the first day that I started the computer. But I've gone through a couple of Win updates, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it? Or is it NVidia Optimus?
Someone please help me with this. I want to run DAZ 3D again ;_;

What does DAZ Studio say about your Video Card (Optimus)? Help > Troubleshooting > About your Video Card.
Have you tried reinstalling DAZ Studio, it only takes a few minutes? If you post again, please mention the version of DAZ Studio that you are using, Help > About DAZ Studio will give you that information.
Hmmmm...actually I had a problem last night. I had a scene loaded and it rendered fine and then I loaded two characters and they were completely white. And I think they came out that way because they didn't go through the optimize process when I rendered them.
I checked the default temp folders within DS. Sometimes I have them pointed to a thumbdrive and if the thumbdrive isn't in then it has no place to go and doesn't get optimized.
This probably isn't the case with yours but worth a check.
Objects rendering solid white or black is usually a shader problem. I have found the only reliable way to get shaders to work every time is to run the program with administrator rights. I suspect this is the result of a 'brickyard' in the hidden C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Roaming folder.
Optimus isn't the card. It's an Nvidia technology that balances energy load and visual performance by way of GPU switching.
