Error installing Mimic Live from DIM

Hi there,

I am having some issues installing Mimic Live from the Download Install Manager. Hopefully someone else has run into this.

I receive the following error:

Install Manager cannot find a required path. The installer for "Mimic Live for DAZ Studio 4.5+ (Win 32-bit) Public Build" requires that the installed path for "DAZ Studio 4.x Public Build (32-bit)" be defined. Make sure that a path for this application is present on the "Applications" page of the "Settings" dialog, then try again.

Install Manager cannot find a required path. The installer for "Mimic Live for DAZ Studio 4.5+ (Win 64-bit) Public Build" requires that the installed path for "DAZ Studio 4.x Public Build (64-bit)" be defined. Make sure that a path for this application is present on the "Applications" page of the "Settings" dialog, then try again.

I have verified my install locations for DAZ, and made sure they show up on the Applications page. The locations are:

64bit: C:/Program Files/DAZ 3D
32bit: C:/Program Files (x86)/DAZ 3D/DAZStudio4

I still receive the same message. I've uninstalled the DIM, and reinstalled latest version. I've also tried changing the install locations in the DIM to different combinations to no avail. Has anyone else run into this problem?

Thanks!

"Public Build" means the beta - and C:/Program Files/DAZ 3D is not the correct path for DAZ Studio in any event, it should be C:/Program Files/DAZ 3D/DAZStudio4

I'm not sure what you mean by the beta. Does that mean I'm not supposed to install it? I did state I tried every combination of folder structure, but here are my file locations. Not really sure why it can't seem to find the install locations.

You know I kept thinking about "beta' so I went to my products page and sure enough it shows the regular version of Mimic Live installed.

This kind of thing makes you want to shoot yourself in the foot. Thanks for the help but I think we're all set.

A Public Build is the BETA files for the Public Build (Beta) of DAZ Studio. The Release versions do not have that on the File names, only the Beta files do.

I've actually got Mimic Live installed so says the Download Manager, however I don't see Mimic Live in the Window pane. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but that doesn't seem to help.

I do see the plugin files located here:
    C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\plugins\dzmimic

    Any ideas?

I've finally figured out the problem, so I will explain it here incase anyone else runs into this issue. This worked for me but every scenario may be different.

In your download manager, set your install paths to:

    64 bit: C:/Program Files
    32 bit: C:/Program Files (x86)

The reason for this is because DIM automatically creates a DAZ 3D folder, so this will avoid duplicate folders in wrong directories.

On the application tab, set your paths for DAZ to:

    32 bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\DAZ 3D\DazStudio4
    64 bit: C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4

Uninstall 32 and 64 bit versions of DAZ from DIM. Remove your DESKTOP shortcuts of DAZ. Reinstall DAZ 64 bit only first. Install Mimic Live.

Open DAZ 64bit, then go to Help > About Installed Plugins. You should be able to type in your serial key for Mimic Live. Close and restart. Mimic Live should appear in Windows > Panes (tabs) > Mimic Live.

From there you should be able to install DAZ 32 bit if you wish.

Is it listed in Help>About Isntalled plug-ins? if so, what colour si its plug, and if you highlight it what does it say at the bottom of the dialogue? I suspect you need to enter your serial number.

In the screenshot your paths are wrong - you want the base folders for 32 and 64 bit applications (C:\Program Files (x86) and C:\Program Files) listed in the Installation tab, otherwise you will get other applications installed in the Studio application folder.

I have the same problem and have tried all the solutions here. Mimic Live can not find the install path regardless. Why can't you guys fix the exe installer so we can point the installer to the right path.

The top half of the screenshot seems to show the Installation tab, which is what I was saying was wrong.

I see. I just checked mine, and it is correct but the Mimic Live install still claims "Install Manager cannot find a required path. "

You are Trying to Install the BETA plugin (Public Build) To the NONE Beta DAZ Studio. That will not work.

I downloaded the version that download manager points to. Why is the beta version still up? I will try to download the retail version when I get home. Sounds like someone needs to clean up the download manager and or the store so these frustrations are not had by DAZ 3D customers. Thank you for your help.

There is a current beta, later than the release version (which is what you have) and the plug-ins labelled Public Build are for use in that.

Yes, that matches the current general release of DS.
