Crashed Carrara

I'm so frustrated. Carrara is so unstable. I'm using 8.1.1. I built a quick project. Text with a cube.
I added a piece of fire below the text. Went to render and the program closed. Now every time I try to open that
project, Carrara crashes. It took me a long time to build this and now I can't even open it. I've tried two different
copies of Carrara and they both crash on this project. Am I just totally screwed?
