Hello there. Yes, one of "looking to find products" threads. Decided to keep it in "Commons" rather than in "Product suggestion" as i hope there is something to discover in already released products.

"Mori" is one of japanese fashion styles/subcultures. I know there were some japanese fashion releases here, mostly Gothic Lolita as far as i can recall. Now i'm interested if we can make a distinctive mori girl (or boy! actually, it also exists as style) character in Daz. Not sure how many of you even heard about this style (me myself only learnt about it recently), but maybe you will be interested about it too (maybe it's something that would finally fit one of your renders idea, ha-ha!)

"Mori" means "forest". I'll quote some information on this style's desctiption from resources.

Firstly, mori kei, literally means "forest style." So, girls that dress in mori look like they live in and are from the forest. In my own interpretation, mori girls tend to have more of a "forest spirit" vibe. White or beige, lacy, lots of layers.

Autumn and winter are the most ideal seasons for mori girls (53). It's something about the chill of the air and the crunch of colored leaves beneath her feet, or maybe it's the warmth of all the extra layers of clothes and scarves she gets to wear.

Pieces
⚘ Loose fitting and smock-like dresses and blouses
⚘  Dresses and skirts are the most important pieces to wear
⚘  Ponchos, boleros, oversized sweaters, cardigans, shawls, to keep yourself warm and add layering

⚘  Linen, crotchet/knit, lace, and fur are ideal fabrics to have in your wardrobe.

⚘  Warm colors are the best. Typically, the base of your outfits should be cremes and beiges, then have other pieces in the colors of burgundy*, dark green*, navy*, and brown. I think the spring is a good time to pull out those pastels- lavender, mint, and peach (closer to cult party kei if you add pastels). There is a subcategory of mori called dark mori, in which case the cremes and beiges can be substituted for blacks and grays.

⚘  Designs featuring animals, sweets, plaid, polka dots, or vintage flowers are preferable

⚘  Layer, layer, layer, layer. It seems to me that the street fashion of mori kei takes on even more, fluffier layers. Not necessarily practical for forest adventuring, but this begins to show the distinction between street mori and more of a natural, "earth child" mori. Here is a helpful mini tutorial on layering.
⚘  Nothing flashy, too sweet, bright/neon colors

⚘ Fluffy fur or knitted hats and earmuffs to keep your ears warm in the winter and fall!
⚘ I usually see large shoulder bags or small cross body purses on mori gals; try a small fur cross body bag (preferably faux, please)!
⚘ Gold accessories are preferred

⚘ This goes with lifestyle as well, but lots of antique accessories and even clothing are a must. Try finding a pocket watch or a long necklace with a large object on it, like a magnifying class.
⚘ Shoes should be flat soled and closed toed, preferably round toe.

⚘ Complexion is pale skin with round, rosy cheeks from playing outside in the cold.

⚘ Loose perm or wavy hair. Choco recommends bob cut with straight bangs or straight bangs with a long, loose perm. Brown seems to be the most popular hair color for mori girls, followed by strawberry blonde and black.

the mori girl is a girl who strives to live in harmony with nature, whether through his clothing style or in his daily life.

Attached to the ecology, and respectful of living things, it seeks to flourish in contact with nature while spanking careful not to degrade it, more accountable and aware of his surroundings, it can recognize and enjoy small simple pleasures in life

and despite the miseries of the world, they change the heart filled with joy in their world full of sweetness.

It is said of them that they are dreamy and nonchalant.

The colors are soft, natural and earthy, and it is light brown and beige tones that dominate, we find it so beige in large quantities, many shades of brown and some other colors reminiscent of the forest like green leaves, orange fall and a little gray and white clouds. you can add some dark colors like dark brown or dark gray but wear sparingly in order not to darken the dress, if you prefer dark colors head to the “dark mori girl” style. clothes are often very broad and overlapping mixtures of materials, you can add it to tissue-like waste, patched and pleated deconstructed to complete the set where conversely, you can play on the sobriety of a straight cut with no extra frills, which is fine with this style is that it fits your needs, it may be exacerbated or wise, but you will find there is always quoting fragile and innocent. However, the mori girl always prefer wearing an original rather than too simple outfit.

the layering, which means “thousand leaves” in Japanese is a method that has the characteristic, layering clothes, this technique is widely used.

shorts; pantacours and pants are not clothes that occupy a very important place in their wardrobe and mori girl when she wears one often add a skirt or a dress over.

the dresses and skirts are long or short their favorite clothes and

if it’s cold or to be more comfortable they prefer to wear tights or leggings underneath rather than put on pants, it also noted that the knit sweaters are very popular.

Shawls, ear warmers, boleros, flowers in her hair and pretty necklaces adorning their necks are the iconic style accessories, besides whatsoever in accessories or clothing, it shows a spirit of antiquity, as if they were in search of authenticity things of the past, old trinkets and old rags,

the shoes are prohibited sharp end, it is better turned to well rounded tips.

IOf you want this thread to be image heavy then it should be in the Art Studio forum.   You can change the forum by editing the first post and changing the Category from the drop dow box on the left hand side of the edit screen, then saving the post

Chohole, you mean that this thread might eventually became a place to post render attempts on this subject, so it would be more fit for that subforum? Thanks

yes, if you are expecting people to give you ideas with images.  If you are just wanting it as a product suggestion thread with possible ideas,  then it should be in the product suggestions forum, as here in the Commons it will get buried quickly.

Initially i thought of it as request for recommendations/suggestions on which (already existing in store or freepository?) items can be used to kitbash (dress, poncho, skirt, hat, etc). I'll see what will happen, and where to keep it. For now, i'm moving it into "suggestions", then :) Will happily put it into "art studio" if it will reach state of "hey, check how it looks on render"

    Something caught my attention today.

I saw recently released gorgeous anime-themed character pack "Kanade 8".

And i noticed that some of outfits is named, indeed, as "mori". However, if we look, as it is, it doesn't give same impression as classic mori style which i discuss here, for various reasons (see examples and descriptions in my OP; but in short - i think most notable points would be 1) colours and materials 2) length of outfit elements 3) layers )

Yet, i think, with help of different textures/materials and in combination with other items (be that other clothes parts or accessories) it might be pretty useful. So, my respect and thanks to PAs for taking experiments.

I was taking a look at current sale, and noticed this cool outfit for V4, especially in this version:

Could be used for classic mori (if don't use choker and gothic accesoires that come with original set, + add lace, scarf, buttons etc.)

Another notice: clothes from "boho chic" series also might be partially used through kitbashing and materials/accs adjustments.

Skirts, jackets/cardigans/ponchos/boleros, etc. might be used

Though, a reminder on differences of styles (despite similatities), here is in article (it's in russian, so use google translate)

    https://corpuscula.blogspot.com/2015/08/blog-post_62.html

    tl;dr from article:

    Bohemian/Boho = mostly in USA/Europe. Mori = Japan.

Bohemian/Boho = artistry. Mori = affinity to nature.

Bohemian/Boho = colorful and contrasting. Mori = one gamma without accents.

Bohemian/Boho = might be "sexy". Mori = layers, layers, layers

Bohemian/Boho = you can show stomach and wear briefs. Mori = long dress or even baggy trousers.

Bohemian/Boho = extrovert, freedom. Mori = introvert, fairy tales, soft mood.

These are kind of opposite characters and cultures. Boho = outside, mori = inside.

Mori crafts a multilayered cocoon through their clothes and hide inside it. And mimic environments with colours and patterns. Forest, seaside etc. They are pensive, dreamy and with crave for solitude.
