DS 4.6 Pro for Mac - can't open files and then becomes unresponsive.
Hi,
DS 4.6 for the Mac was working fine until last week when it suddenly crashed. I restarted the program and all looked normal until I tried to Open a file.
Using File -> Open... I got the file open dialog window open, but it immediately closed of its own accord. The application then becomes unresponsive with all the top menu options greyed out and none of the onscreen widgets responding to clicks. The only way to exit the program is to use the Force Quit option from the Apple menu.
If I reopen the application again, I can add figures to scenes, apply textures and props, but the program will once again crash as soon as I try to open an external file (such as applying a texture to a skin by choosing a map through a file dialog).
I've uninstalled 4.6 and downloaded a fresh copy from DAZ but the problem persists.
So has anyone seen this issue elsewhere and is there a way of fixing it?
In case it helps, this is on an Intel iMac, 8GB RAM running MacOS X 10.9
Thanks,
Mike.

Did this happen when you updated to Mavericks and not happen before?
you can check your CPU by going to the magnifying glass and typing "Activity Monitor" and click the column CPU to see what's utilizing your CPU. I have not installed Mavericks so I'm guessing it's similar to the other 8 incarnations of OS X but it may be eating your CPU.
You have an intel CPU, but which one? The redraw on the screen is a GPU and CPU relationship but it could be something else, like indexing.
Your activity monitor should look something like this depending on what's running,
