The one from Mallenlane is just the body shape which you need in order to use the V4 skins auto converter. The UV for Genesis 2 is different than the actual V4 character so her textures wouldn't work on Genesis 2 like they did on Genesis 1. So with the shape made by MallenLane and the auto skin converter you can use V4 textures on Genesis 2.

They are complementary - in order for the maps to apply to G2F, if you have the V4 for G2F product, they need to be in .duf format - the V4 Skine Auto Convert applies non-duf format materials and then saves a .duf preset, ready for use on G2F with the UV set from V4 for G2F.

Ah, so they work together. So one needs to have the V4 for G2F product to use any V4 UV set on GF2. But it will only convert materials in .duf format. So if I want to convert skins/materials for V4 that aren't in .duf format the V4 Skin Auto Converter does it "automatically" rather than doing a manual save as a .duf preset.

    Am I understanding this correctly?

You have to have the V4 for G2F product to have the V4 UVs for G2F, but you can do what the V4 Skin Auto Converter does manually your self. I just did this last night for the V4 Elite Katie skin.

I had already changed the materials to use the AoA SSS shader on V4. I just did Save As -> Material Preset with V4 selected. This creates a DUF format material preset. Then I applied that to G2F. I had to manually change all the UVs to V4 UV in all the surface zones on G2F. I then saved another material preset for G2F with the correct UVs.

This particular skin actually looks better on G2F than on V4. This skin has a lot of freckles around the shoulder that get stretched and distorted on V4 when you bend the arm down. G2F has better shoulder joint bending that does not stretch the skin so much at the shoulder. The freckles look much more natural.

I assume the V4 Skin Auto Converter takes care of changing to DUF and selecting the correct UVs, but I never bought this product so I cannot say for sure.

All of a sudden when itried to transfer a V4 material to V6 using the converter, the ears stayed white altho everything else transferred fine. I know someone else asked about this but I cannot find the thread, does anyone know what is causing this and how to fix it?

Does this work with Generation 4 Legacy Shapes for Genesis 2 by Slosh or do we really need to buy V4 for G2F separately?

You need the V4 for G2F, the Legacy Shapes are only the shapes and don't have the UVsets.
