Where do I find the Genesis Female Starter Essentials?

A search turns up nothing. Is it out there somewhere? I am trying to follow along with the newest quick start guide and it mentions a "Barefoot Dancer" which is not in my content and I installed the latest DS 4.6 Pro this morning.

Where are you looking? Because it should be there.

Maybe your smart content pane doesn't list everything you have (which could have something to do with database corruption). When in doubt always look in the content library. The easiest way to get there is to use the Window pull down menu, then go to "Panes (tabs)" and select the content library.

If you search for "Barefoot" (mind CAPITAL and small letters; this is case sensitive) then it should pop up in no time.

The exact location (in the Daz 3D library) is: DAZ Studio Tutorials -> Genesis 2 Barefoot Dancer.

Thanks folks. I am downloading the genesis 2 female starter essentials right now. I did a search here on DAZ and found NOTHING. I had to go to google and search there to find it.

The Genesis 2 female starter essentials are installed, but DAZStudio 4.6 Pro cannot seem to find it. I have added the path from the DIM to the DS Content Manager Directory. Then I closed and restarted DS 4.6 Pro, but there is only one icon under the people category. How do I force DAZ to scan for new items?

I am on this page here. https://helpdaz.zendesk.com/entries/23624648-Adding-Content-installed-by-DIM-to-DAZ-Studio-or-Poser But things are not working it seems.

Re-Import your metadata even though you shouldn't need to if installing with DIM. Did you install it while DS was open?

Thanks. I have no idea where this metadata may be found. No DS was not open while the install was taking place.

That did not make my content match the tut. Here is a screenshot of the smart content interface in the tut compared with the smart content as it appears on my computer. I do not see Genesis 2 Base on my machine there either.

That looks quite bizar; but could be caused by an inconsistency in your database.

The problem is that the 'Smart contents' tab does not list all your material as you have it on disk, but instead lists everything it has stored in a separate database. The advantage should be obvious: searching for something will go a lot faster than if you need to look it up on disk. But the possible downside to this is the possibility that both environments (the files in your Daz Studio library and the database) are not fully in sync.

It's one of the reasons why you can also access your content library directly (so without using the database). You can do so by using the previously mentioned "content library" tab. You can find it under the Window menu, select "Panes (tabs) -> Content library" (it's probably located somewhat in the middle).

Now, select "DAZ Studio Formats", then "DAZ 3D Library" and then "People". Now you should see something somewhat matching the attached screenshot. At the very least should you be able to see "Genesis" and "Genesis 2 Female". If that's the case then your problem is most definitely caused by an out-of-sync database.

You have Genesis selected in your Smart Content tab -- you need nothing selected or Genesis 2 Female selected..

Now, you may probably know this already but I figured I might as well write it up anyway because there are bound to be more people who will be reading this.

It can be really beneficial to become more familiar with the content library tab, also because there is still a lot of material out there which doesn't support the smart contents pane by default (or, to turn this around; contents which the new content pane can't recognize and thus index on its own).

There are still a lot of products which you buy in the store and they don't end up in your smart contents pane. Which can be really confusing at first (especially if you just started out with this software).

But I've been digging very hard into the content editor and noticed that although the smart content pane also has a lot of advantages, you can very often get quicker results by using the "old fashioned" content library. Also because you can opt what you wish to use. For example when searching for contents you can tell it to use the database (or index) or the files as they're found on your computer.

It maybe a bit confusing at first, but once you get a good grasp on the structure of the library it becomes a really valuable tool.

    In my opinion of course.
